While I won't go to the extent the OP went he brings up a good point. The main people who started rioting were average Canucks fans who went to watch the games downtown. It wasn't some group of highly trained specialists who infiltrated the ranks of Canucks fans just to burn Vancouver down. This didn't happen on the Red Mile in Calgary and it didn't happen on Whyte Ave in Edmonton.

There's stories of people who showed up at the public gatherings with gas masks and ski masks. There was people who had the intent of starting this whether the Canucks won or not, and there's a lot of dumbfucks (mostly young) who have no problem getting involved in it.

Another problem is that the Canucks are #1, 2 and 3 when it comes to Vancouver. There's a CFL and MLS team that have good followings, but they're not even close to what the Canucks mean to the city. It's like the combination of the passion Americans have for Football and the patriotism from the olympics.
