Someone
out of the Isles and Devils are moving to the Barclay's Center, most
likely the Isles because they own the territory and their building is
falling apart, while the Devils have a new building. Never know, though.
Apparently the Prudential Center was banking on the Nets staying in
Jersey and not moving to make a profit, now they're screwed for the
future.
As for Wang, it's hard to say if he has much control over
the situation. NHL has some pretty vicious clauses to force their
owners to keep teams that they don't want, though there is precedent
with Jerry Moyes in Phoenix throwing the keys on the table and letting
the NHL run the team (before the bankruptcy stuff). It's hard to say if
Wang is even paying for the team anymore.
It sucks to lose a
team, but saturation-wise it's probably better off for that
NYR/NYI/NJD/PHI area to lose a team (though not better off for that
quartet's travel arrangements). |
