Messi embodies all that is good in sports he is hard working, humble, NEVER gives up on a play, and is terrific to watch. He is everything that you want an athlete to be. Almost like a God.

Ronaldo embodies all that is wrong with sports, he was at one time an up and coming kid with crazy hair playing for the game and his team but now money and fame have turned him into a pampered, pretty boy, cheating baby who is now more celebrity than athlete. Almost like the Satan of sports.

He's human after all. And there's not a single player that has NEVER dived, but Messi is known for playing the ball even after a tackle. Of course he'll dive once in a while, anyone will specially in the box.

Doesn't change the fact that he's the greatest player of this generation, one of the all-time greats. And Cristiano Ronaldo is just a guy that plays good football, very athletic, but he's been sold as a brand and that's what he is now.

    This Season for C. Ronaldo
    >29 goals in 30 league matches
    >6 goals in 10 CL matches
    >7 goals in 8 cup matches
Yes Messi has more goals at 50 this season, but Ronaldo's goal output has still been remarkable with 42. Both could have way more from injuries throughout the season too.

The only player you can compare him too is Robben who is also a winger. If you really think Robben is better than Ronaldo you're delusional. Xavi, Iniesta, Sneijder are all great playmaking midfielders; Ronaldo job is to primarily score goals, which is completely different from the jobs of Xavi, Iniesta, and Sneijder. When it comes to scoring goals, based on sheer output, you can really only compare him to Messi, whose position is more forward than Ronaldo's.

99 Manchester United squad is far better, even the 2010 Inter Squad. UEFA ranks the EPL higher, which is why they get more seats to the CL, who wins the final is less significant considering most top flight English managers prize the league more.

Also Chelsea were robbed in the 2009 semis.

Valdes couldn't do anything against Ronaldo brilliant header and Valdes or Puyol have nothing to do with the fact that Pepe outplayed Messi who did absolutely nothing in a final, unlike Ronaldo.

This is such bullshit. Yes, Ronaldo has embraced his celebrity status and is certainly a bit more pampered now than 5 years ago, but he's renowned for being a ridiculously hard worker on and off the pitch. Always in training first and leaving last. Always wanting to improve and learn new things.

Messi is the opposite: what can he do now that he couldn't do age 17? He's better at what he does, but he's not improved at set pieces or crossing or long passing or any of the parts of his game that he doesn't use all the time.

Ronaldo spots deficiencies in his game and works his socks off to turn them into strengths. He's a great player who we should all admire. Messi dives just as much and getting mad at an athlete for fucking gorgeous women just smacks of hating.

This is such bullshit. What would the benefit of Messi improving his crossing if he occupies a central role now? He's much much much better at set pieces than when he was at 17. As for long passing, what's the point in him learning to play 50 yard crossfield passes if he has 5 easy options available to him, Barcelona/Argentina don't play on the counter attack and if he's the one who is going to be in the 3 furthest players up the pitch?

Yes but the idea is that by developing that side of your game you become even more difficult to defend against as your opponent will have less of an idea of what your are going to do.

Messi is like the Barcelona team: highly dependent on an extremely effective plan A. Ronaldo used to not be a goal threat - he developed his shooting to the point where defenders can no longer back away while he's running at goal. Ronaldo used to not be able to hit free kicks, now his goal return from them is astounding. Ronaldo used to be shit in the air, now he's a threat from corners and free kicks.

It makes him a much harder player to come up against. If I'm marking Messi I know what he's going to do, simply that's it's very tough to stop him.

thats the point, messi is being pigeon-holed into playing in the centre becus he cant do a thing when hes out wide, pushing villa out wide this season to accomodate messi in the middle has destroyed him (no goals in over 2 months?)
whereas ronaldo is overall the more complete player, he can play just about anywhere on the pitch and have a game-changing contribution
fact of the matter is this, when messi hits 30 and loses his pace he will be a nothing player whereas ronaldo will still be able to perform in a variety of roles a.l.a giggs
also CR7 is sexier, messis face looks like melted butter

    John Charles
    Bobby Charlton
    Gary Lineker
    Kenny Dalglish
    Stanley Matthews

I could go on, but these players are people who never dive, never hurt others, always play with a huge sense of pride whenever they put their shirt on. These people embody everything good about football.

    Ronaldo
    Messi
    Rooney
    Robben
    Torres
    Gerrard
    Fabregas

People like these guys are what is wrong with football. They are groomed by their stylists and hairdressers to look like model professionals. They attend charity events (probably by force from their team) and they score lots of goals. But they dive. They cheat. They don't mind fooling the ref to get a goal. At the slightest contact, they fall immediately on the floor to show the ref what assault the other player did to them. If they're in a wall, they charge forward when a free-kick is taken, even though it's illegal. They wave their hands at the ref. They might make a stupid tackle, but they stand up and run away (without apologizing) because they're afraid they'll get sent off. They shout at people when things aren't going their way. Instead of playing for their local club, or going to a mid-table team and taking them to the top, they like to play for the 'big clubs'. They buy fancy cars, and hang out with the celebs. They always demand higher wages. They get their picture taken for some big company. They get given big shiny gold awards. And the worst part is, they get called heroes and legends. These 'professional athletes' are everything that is wrong with modern football.
