  • We are still working on some of the outstanding CloudFlare issues. We are aware of an issue affecting IE users where all images are saved as BMP and are working on a fix. We will also be sending proper Last-Modified headers on HTML starting early next week (works on our end, waiting on a fix from CDN). And still tracking down the issues with posting/accessing sys.4chan.org.

I've gotten a few e-mails from Australian users about difficulty resolving 4chan DNS and accessing the site. If you are affected, please e-mail moot@4chan.org with more specifics like your ISP, and what the 4chan subdomains are resolving to (run "nslookup boards.4chan.org" and "nslookup www.4chan.org" from command prompt/terminal).

    Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, I'm hoping to double major in biochemistry and some other biological science if not simple biology, and minor in photography or fine arts. This will be easy since I will be taking only one class at a time. I hope, however, to eventually get a PhD in parasitology, the study of parasites.

It's a good school where I will be able to take one class at a time. With some of my minor difficulties, i.e. a genetic form of depression and ADHD, only having one class at a time will help me survive and even do well.

Well, my personal reason is that I've been a spoiled rich bitch all my life. However, my parents must have also done something right, because I know just how lucky I have it, and I want to spend the rest of my life working to help those who don't have it as good as I do. And in order to do the most good, it's probably helpful to have a degree.

OP, I got into my first choice school. It was a very well know one and it was the only college I applied to.

Realized there was no way I could pay for it, went to some shitty state school.

4 years later, in debt, and regret going to college at all. The first choice school would have been nicer, but I would have had even more fucking debt.

Filmmaking, which I knew wasn't a financially secure degree.

Little did I know that they don't teach you anything about filmmaking and it's a big waste of time.

And my point was I shouldn't have gone to college. Everyone kept encouraging me too, I was dumb and listened to them, and now I'm fucked in debt with no useful degree.

I guess I can't blame you, most financially secure degrees nowadays are so competitive and involve a difficult course most people don't succeed.

Yeah it was my decision after not getting to go to my expensive first choice school. But it was like- all my friends were going, I had no other prospects. And everyone kept prodding me to do it "Finish college, you won't regret it! It can never be a bad thing to have!"

Now that I have that all those people are like "Well shit man, it was your choice to go to college when you 18 and had no fucking clue what you were doing, fuck you"

    Fuck.

    Nope!

And, well, I won't have to pay for college, really. My family is *very* well off financially, and so far they have paid for 5 years of my brother's education and have put me through expensive private schools for 6 years, while saving up for my college. I'm more than prepared, however, to pay for my education further than that. My family is made up of people who put education before everything else, so they spoil my brains silly.

    >>8618597
heh, I kinda understand your situation.
My parents both want me to go to a certain university, but I don't think I'd fit in. They offered to pay for my tuition like they did for my sister, but I think I want to have an experience of paying all the debt myself. Although it would be a nice stress reliever to not pay for college, where my parents want me to go would just add more stress.

    >>8618643
Ah, I am very grateful I don't have to deal with that; my parents are aware I have some learning difficulties and so are willing to pay for any school they believe I will do well in. Tell your parents that you would indeed go to the school they wish you would go to, if you thought you would do well there. Tell them that you believe it to be slightly unfair of them to push a certain school onto you, but make sure you emphasize that you understand why they like the school. Tell them you would like financial assistance, possibly paying them back at a later date, solely so you can focus on your studies more than you would if you also had to deal with debt.

They are just pushing me for a certain university since our family has a gigantic legacy going through that university which has involved about 80% of my family. I think they know I'll do anywhere I go, just the matter of social life is what is important. And I don't think I'll need financial assistance. Sure if I get financial aid or more scholarships that would be awesome, but, I don't want to grow up knowing I became successful because of an "advantage" I had over others. I told my parents if they had a college fund for me that they should just donate it. I'm not saying one decision is better than the other, its just a personal choice.

Well going from college to owning a clinic in Africa is a LONG path and distance in terms of work. And so much risk of disease and violence, wouldn't it just be more simple to work on such research in America by receiving samples from Africa?
