Theres a couple at my work and besides saying good morning and good night to them, I completely ignore them and hang out with people who share the same values as I do. I had a friend since freshman year of highschool who was always a little weird, but just recently (junior year of college) he told me he was gay and interested in me. You're "the same person" because your assuming that one's sexuality has 0 importance for the self, for what one is as a person. However, for most people it doesn't work like that. One's sexual options are a big part of what one is and if that changes it's to be expected that the way that person is seen changes as well. You simply can't expect unconditional friendship and love from everybody, which seems to be your case. People have all the right - not merely formal or legal right, which is obvious they have, but a moral one - to change the way they see you, their opinion on you and ultimately if they want to stay around you or not. Just like one may opt to not befriend a hunter due to holding the belief that guns are disgusting or that animals have the right to live and that killing them is a crime.

Don't blame others for your lack of courage to come out of the closet, which apparently is what you're doing here.
