    The Bermuda Triangle, /sci/:

    Can you explain it?

Fast changing conditions due to water and air currents. It also the tornadoes much like the mid-west

Yeah it's frozen methane under the water, causes boats to become less boyant and sink and it's explosive so when it gets into the air and planes go through enough it their engines explode. Problem solved.

    Magnetic field throw off instruments.

People too lazy and dumb to find another way to navigate besides magnetic based equipment.

It's the frozen methane, air currents don't do shit, those are everywhere, as for the magnetic field it could pose a relevant problem but it also occurs in other places, the frozen methane has been recently discovered as a very plausible and serious problem because it explains why boats AND planes are failing hard in the area.
    >> Anonymous 05/21/10(Fri)23:13 No.991504
Well, there are some islands in the ocean.

Nothing more interesting than that, though:
    >Documented evidence indicates that a significant percentage of the incidents were inaccurately reported or embellished by later authors, and numerous official agencies have stated that the number and nature of disappearances in the region is similar to that in any other area of ocean.
    >> Anonymous 05/21/10(Fri)23:13 No.991505
Nothing to explain. Statistically no more disappearances per journey than anywhere else. Just lots and lots of small hop ocean sailings.

So the bermuda triangle is really just a rough area where a load of frozen methane lies?

That area of the ocean floor is covered in methane hydrates.
    >> Anonymous 05/21/10(Fri)23:26 No.991559
Fact: No more boat or aircraft accidents happen within the "Bermuda Triangle" than anywhere else.

    Nobody's said magnets yet?

    /sci/, I am disappoint.

Sensationalist newspapers. Some paper coined the term and every accident that has ever happened within the region has been reported because the idea of a mysterious magical section of ocean catches the attention of readers. Other accidents outside of the region are simply reported less giving the illusion of more accidents happening in the Bermuda Triangle.

That's nice that it made it to the discovery and history channel. I hope the science channel doesn't have bullshit like this.
