I've heard it said that there are two things that relationships can't survive a difference of opinion on - monogamy and children. If one person definitely wants one of those things and the other definitely doesn't, it's just a matter of time.

I'm starting to think the same thing is true of religion. I wish it weren't, but when you think about it, why wouldn't it be? It's a subject that's enmeshed in the very core of who we are and how we think and behave. Do you really think you can be more important to a person than their entire foundation for their world? I used to think I could, but I don't anymore. And I think that's a good thing, frankly. I wouldn't want to be saddled with someone where I'd have this huge disconnect between us in the very core of our beings.
