!MOE.v8OInk 03/14/10(Sun)08:03 No. 510536 There
is no logical reason to follow a religion. Why is christianity right,
but islam, hinduism, judaism, budhism, even other branches of
christianity, wrong? There is no logical reason to believe in a
creator. The universe needed creating? Then by the same logic the
creator needed creating too. The creator is eternal? Then why can the
univrse not be eternal? Having a creator is just pushing problems of the
universe onto a higher being and not solving the problems at all. The
Earth is so perfect for life, it must have been created for us? No. We
wouldn't exist on a none ideal planet, life will only arise on ideal
planets, so every life bearing planet will appear "perfect" for it's
inhabitants. Organisms that breath sulphates will not find our planet
very good at all. Morality? We make our own morality. If we got
our morality from the bible we would still be stoning homosexuals,
strongly oppressing women, killing people from dishonoring parents, etc.
We chose to ignore the bits of the bible we don't like and only take
the bits that fit with the current morality, then claim that all
morality comes from the bible. The bible may have helped
introduce morality in very immoral times, but we are culturally advanced
enough to not need it. It's frankly shocking to think people are
claiming anyone is only moral because they're scared of a negative after
life. To say that is to basically call humanity entirely selfish.
They're almost claiming without a concept of hell they would do whatever
they want and their own morality only stems from the fact they're told
not to. A religion is just an old story that filled the gaps, but
became so embedded in culture that people couldn't let it go, even when
it was no longer needed.
