  • Over the past 48 hours 4chan's formspring page has gotten over 12,000 questions, and I've received over 3,000 e-mails. Many thanks to everyone who submitted a question, and sent me a message! I was able to respond to a few hundred e-mails and had hoped to start answering questions on formspring, but it seems that the number of questions broke the page. Once that's sorted out, I'll sift through them and answer as time allows. Thanks again for all of the support!

In other news, /rs/ now processes MediaFire/MegaUpload/a bunch of other links correctly (this had been broken for months). The old links should be updated in 24-48 hours. Thanks to Popcorn Mariachi for spontaneously appearing and fixing this.

It's a hard call. You won't get as much out of it if you don't have the math, but if you do have the math it's quite possible you already know a good deal about what's in it.

Still, there are some really excellent elucidations. My only real gripe is that it's not nearly as comprehensive as I'd been expecting. There is a tradeoff here because he does spend about half of the book going over the math involved, which is also worthy.

Virus of the Mind should be read by every one on a 4chan science board.

I would also recommend "The Beginner's Guide to Scientific Method" Stephen Carey. As well as any beginning Algebra text book.

Ehh, after watching the series, the book (word for word at times from the series) is good to have around to look up a specific quote, or browse the pictures. Hell I even used it to brush up on the glycolosis cycle.

By no means a must read, but I would definitely recommend this book.

It's a stange book filled both with physics knowledge and eastern philosophy.

It does at times delve into metaphysics, but they do a good job informing you when they are about to do so.

Itzhak Bentov's book "Stalking The Wild Pendulum" Its a weird hybrid between string theory and new age. Basically we exist at infinite speeds, that pulsate in and out existence here on Earth and out into the infinite reaches of space. But the pulsation happens at such fast speeds, that we're unaware of it. Pick it up, its a good read

you would be surprised that progress, advancement and evolution are the same word in Greek "εξέλιξη"

the concept is the same for all similar situations (almost like a counterbalancing law to entropy) though it happens by different mechanisms

it is expressed for open systems tending to increase in complexity and organising as time passes

and NO it does not violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics as all these systems are open to external energy income
