Worried about college debts? Are room and boards fees driving you mad? Try living in a van!

I've thought about this a lot, but you need an address, and PO boxes can't be used for everything.

I think this sounds cool... I pay rent in an expensive apartment... six months or a year in a van would save me a shitload.

I was thinking you could pay someone a small fee to receive your mail, but this has the potential to go seriously wrong.

the address you use is the one you abandon for the van... or a parent's house

All my family is in another state. I'm trying to think, though, who really needs an address? I guess the bank---wouldn't be giving up my bank account. But you can go paperless with all banks and credit cards. Paperless for cell phone, too.

    Hmm.

I'd love a job as a park ranger. Go on patrols, look for fires, no people around. It sounds great.

Oh, what a coincidence. I'm in a van right now.

Ask someone who's living in a van (albeit in their parent's driveway) anything.

Oh wow, what a fucking idiot.

My parents annoy the shit out of me and even being in the driveway is better than being in the house.

I wasn't planning on being parked here, but my van decided it didn't like going places far away and will start breaking itself in protest. I also bought a shitty inverter that broke and I've yet to save up enough to get a new one.

So, yes. Hurrdurr freedoms like murka!

Srsly, if you're doing something worthwhile (i.e., research), you don't really have to pay for a Ph.D.

Somewhat related but I ate nothing but boiled spaghetti and boiled meat flavored with only salt for a whole semester because I'm too scared to see people irl when buying food at the cafeteria.
