moar textbooks than can ever be found through torrents, FTP, IRC or HTTP sources (like rapids)

    https://www.binsearch.info (yep: https)
    http://www.nzbindex.nl
http://www.ngindex.com (booleans, noone else has em)
yep. usenet. Everything on torrent, rapid, and IRC was sourced from usenet by someone who had/has usenet, and turned around and shared it through a different service.

unlike with movies, sharing and distribution of texbooks is still (as it has always been) dominated by usenet.
this is not the case with e-books (fiction, non fiction) necessarily.

IRC is the best resource for bookz (try: #bookz)

You need to include the following videos as required:

(Required for everyone on /sci/) Neil Tyson talks about UFOs and the argument from ignorance.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfAzaDyae-k

(Fucking magnets, how do they work? answered) Feynman 'Fun to Imagine' 4: Magnets (and 'Why?' questions...)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMFPe-DwULM

They're both short, and they both rip apart common misconceptions of science and rationality.

I certainly be inclined to keep the trolling category. Just to clarify, I tend to use 'troll' and 'joke' (wrongly) interchangeably. Two reasons.

Like it or not, trolling and being trolled is a part of the culture here on /sci/. While most are pretty feeble attempts, some of the better ones have had me in hysterics. This is somewhat of a nod of the head to that section of the community. Aether has given us so much, the least he should get is his favourite site in the sticky.

Secondly and more importantly. If the most commonly used sites to milk some buttfrustration are printed clear as day on the front page under the banner 'Troll Sites', it would be my hope that newcomers to /sci/ would be less inclined to fall for one of these cheap ruses.

simply go through the thread, and consolidate all your existing knowledge into a single monthly .PNG

    then start a new thread.

any worthwhile new knowledge can then be added to the PNG, and a new thread made again
    etc.

    rinse and repeat.

OH HELL YES, I was wondering why there wasn't one of these already.

As someone new to /sci/ the topics I'd like to see are Math and Physics for beginners.

You all make it look easy but to someone like me it is chinese because I have no point of reference to start from. Here in the Netherlands my teachers thought it was somehow more important that we all got along with immigrants and even though they ruined school life for everyone they didn't really do anything about it.

Hence the huge setback in basic skills that everyone should have been taught in my opinion.

Hell, I even had to teach myself English so excuse me if I made grammatical errors. Maybe adding a language section would be nice as well?

Spanish, Latin, English and Chinese are the most popular right now where I live anyway.

This is a series of 12 lectures by Micheal Sandel at Harvard school of Law about philosophy. It covers the basics.

ttc lectures are fucking golden flavoured. ttc make these video lectures, in a series 24 that go for half an hour each. they have probably about 1000 different courses. lectured by famous researchers in the fields they lecture on. i strongly reccomend ttc lectures. string theory, number theory, quantum mechanics, the shape of nature, a history of numbers, fractals, neuroscience, relativity, philosophy and numbers. heaps of religion lectures, lol wine tasting, there are so many ttc lectures

they also have fucking heaps of audio lectures. so if you want a 24 part series on what ever topic you want to learn about then see if ttc have made it because there is a good chance they have.
