You've clearly never actually applied to medical school. Thousands
of people apply -only hundreds of people are accepted. And guess what
-all of them have 4.0 GPA averages and graduated at "the top of their
class". They're all in the top of their class, per say, and you have so
many overacheiving candidates that grades barely matter. You're still
competing with thousands of other perfect grades. So what distinguishes
you at this point of the game is your personality, your motives, and how
eager you are. Med school looks for the most active -not necessarily
extroverted- but active, and confident applicants. They look for people
who push the envelope with their other-people skills and people who
care. They look for those people who volunteer not just at a hospital
for the hours, but who actively work to better their community. Timbit
soccer or hockey coaches, community leaders, that sort of shit can go a
long way. |
