/sci/ I have gathered over 1,250 "info" pics.I wish to share them but I need to organize them into different folders.Could anyone be so kind as to help me organize them?I have of every kind, for every subject, I just want some hierarchical structure.Science > Physics > Astrophysics.Science > Technology > Operating Systems.something like that, could anyone be so kind as to classify the entire spectrum of the sciences for me?Pic related, it's my folder.
I want to share this sci, but right now it's a mess, i would love to classify it, but I am lost on a coherent hierarchical folder structure.
You expect us to organize your stack of over twelve hundred pics without you dumping it first?
>>1506010The image limit per thread would make it take hours.
>Technology > Operating Systems.Name it /g/.
>>1506014/rs/, nigga.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classification_of_the_sciences_(Peirce)Apparently fuck all has been done since this.
>>1506028This is what I want,I'm classifying them right now.would you /sci/entists like a .zip or a .rar?
>>1506030Doesn't matter, really.
>>1506030Either; .rar probably yields better compression.I can unzip .rars on Loonix so it doesn't matter. Macfags can probably use unrar too.
>>1506030I don't care, just give
>>1506030i prefer rar but it dosnt matter really
>>1506036I do beleive that these classifications while proper, are not the best.so far I got this.Philosophy-Metaphysics-LogicSpecial Sciences-Physical--Mathematics--Physics--Chemistry--Biology--Technology-Psychical--Psychology--Sociologybump I need serious help.
>>1506045>>1506047Can you guys help me out on the hierarchical structure? It's an absolute necessity.
>>1506048what you have there seems quite good i cant think of anything else to add.
Don't organize it... make it bigger.Get the complete physics torrent, complete math torrent, complete chemistry torrent, and top it off with every set of sparkcharts. Win.
Taxonomy is a bitch. Use the system that other guy posted.
>>1506067I am quite satisfied with my size, whenever I find new ones I add them.I'm not going to go on a quest.
>>1506070Fine.... don't get gigabytes of college level ebooks then.
put it in a .rar file and upload it to a hosting site and we'll organise it for you.
>>1506074my e-book collection is quite vast @ 24 GB.Last one I read was quantitative finance.I'm playing with the idea of having and ftp server, with public access for anyone. (read only).
>>1506082Terrible idea. With that size stuff, get it professionally hosted, torrent it, or say gloodbay to your download quota.
>>1506082thats a good idea i would use it and i know other people who would use it
>>1506077I'm already 25% done.I choose http://www.educationoasis.com/curriculum/Science/ff/branchessci.htmfor my folder structure.also added some that we missing.
>>1506099>>1506095haha. meh there both right if you can find some sort of happy medium or just go with >>1506099
>>1506082Do it! Put it in a torrent to... the infoz must flowz
>>1506100thats a nice way to organize it
>>1506100Looks very good if you follow this.I'm actually kinda excited, lol.
OP here, I'm just going to do a http://www.tinyurl.comlinked to a Megauplaod.going to post it in /g/, /sci/ and /fit/.this should be done in an hour.
>>1506122thanks man this is looking awesome im excited
>>1506122Waiting patiently.
>>1506123>>1506127quick question, I am not too familiar with some branches of science.can anyone be so clear as to specify the difference between anthropology and archeology?
This just in: The OP is not a faggot!
>>1506137anthropology |ˌanθrəˈpäləjē|nounthe study of humankind, in particular• (also cultural or social anthropology) the comparative study of human societies and cultures and their development.• (also physical anthropology) the science of human zoology, evolution, and ecology.archaeology |ˌärkēˈäləjē| (also archeology)nounthe study of human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains.
bumping so thread dosnt die before op finished doing what he's doing
>>1506171It won't die.on the actual note..... uploading it is what's going to take long (couple of hours)
bumphurry OP & thanks already
Fuck I'd rather eat a sun-dried roadkill skunk dipped in a dough made of rabid bear diarrhea and sand, fried in fresh BP sea oil than go about organizing 1250 pics into over 9000 folders.
>>1506173Torrent as well, please? I know it'll probably fuck up your bandwidth, but it's less maintenance for you after it's up.
>>1506179Wise words, sir.
>>1506067Are there any other complete sets like those three?
>>1506175I am.>>1506179I don't know what I have, but I manage a triple boot system with some virtualboxes. Also, my last project was organizing my 18,000+ song library. My next undertaking will be to actually name all my 5,000+ pictures.>>1506181I think that is the best option, I've never uploaded a torrent before..
how much time is left!!!!!!
>>1506195Download uTorrent (too lazy to figure out how to put Mu) and click "Create a Torrent". It probably has instructions. Then just upload somewhere.
>>1506192I'm new to /sci/. Post them please?
>>1506200Upload to TPB please. That would be awesome.
>>1506203I have a few.Is xchan dumper still blocked? I can't be fucked to dump manually.
It's a shame really that you can't put tags on media files in Windows.
>>1506208Just post links to the torrents. That's fine.
>>1506199hours, I made this tripname, If you visit /sci/, /fit/ and/or /g/ you'll see the stash posted in <24hrs.>>1506200I have uTorrent, I'll start the process then.>>1506207Yes, TPB and Mininova most definitely.>>1506209Yes it is.
Patiently waiting.
>>1506223alright im gonna come back tomorow same time and i should be able to find it?
>>1506219Can't be asked to upload them to a torrent site. I only have like a hundred anyway. OP probably has all the ones I have but I'd be more than happy to upload them if I have some OP doesn't have.
>>1506223If you're uploading a .torrent file it won't take hours. They're usually only a few kiB.
>>1506225>>1506229I just hope it picks up on it's own, a torrent for anyone who wants them at any specific time.>>1506230I find new ones every once in a while, I remember when the *informatics* fad (as I refer to it) hit the *chans. It started as a flare-up about 2-1 year ago.but about 6 months ago it really picked up and became a widespread phenomena. The only downside was that most of them were reposts, it became increasingly difficult to find new material.I just saved all the pics I could find, I regret not classifying them at the moment.
>>1506235I think he's sorting out all the files. Thank god we don't have lives.
>>1506229yes, as I mentioned before, I'm uploading it to /sci/, /g/, /fit/.although I'm contemplating /adv/ and /r9k/ as well.
>>1506219http://www.kickasstorrents.com/all-physics-books-categorized-t600101.htmlhttp://www.kickasstorrents.com/all-math-books-categorized-t701464.htmlhttp://www.kickasstorrents.com/all-chemistry-books-categorized-t701432.html
>>1506247I think of it an investment, my habits of saving pictures has saved my life too many times.By the way is it just or me or does the captcha get gradually harder?
>>1506250Shot bro.My captcha is Mingus LARS. I want to know where the hell mingus came from.
>>1506258>>1506261Maybe it does some kind of accuracy test on you?
>>1506258I don't know about harder, but it definitely gets gayer and gayer.ETA now mate ?
>>150626716% done in 1 hour.84% remaining. The picture shows the folder structure, the only folder that contains sub-folders is the computer science folder.I'm just manually adding pictures into their respective folders.
>>1506297holy shit dude. You have my respect. Thanks. Looking forward to this!
>>1506304It's something that must be done.that's allPlus, I need to some massive data back-ups. (4 TB+)and I need to have EVERYTHING organized.
Thanks man, I will enjoy this, esp. the computer science. I think /g/ will like that part too.
>>1506327Looking forward to many of your folders dude. Especially astrophysics and astronomy. Are they big folders ?
>>1506304Yours and all others.
>>1505998>INFO PICSITS CALLED "BOOKS".
Guys, I'm going to go eat breakfast (woke up @ 3:00 AM).I am going to make a new thread posthaste within 24 hours.800 pictures to manually re-organize.seems like a lot, but I got 400 done, so I don't see it as an unbeatable challenge.Have a good day.I will use this same trip.Live long and prosper, see you in 24 hours!.
>>1506250You guise and your discrimination:http://www.kickasstorrents.com/all-biology-books-categorized-t600109.htmlhttp://www.kickasstorrents.com/all-psychology-books-categorized-t701474.htmlI didn't try to find sociology because sociology is shit but these are interesting at least. There doesn't seem to be a computer science one, which is a shame because CS is actually cool.
>>1506346My biggest folders so far are CS, Statistics and Unclassifiable, I would say Astrophysics and Astronomy are medium sized folders.>>1506358Nah.
>>1506362youre the only tripfag I really like; can't wait for your return
I have a few books myself...
>>1506393How many did you actually read?If it's all of them, I am genuinely impressed.
>>1506405its a long term project, unrared there are tens of thousands

Should just sticky this til' he posts the torrents and shit. Awesome thread.
>>1506297God damn nigguh can't wait for this shyeet
>>1506393Sup.Also, bump for info pics.
Organizing Information Pictures is though.I have about 900, and it takes a hell of a long time.
OP, does your collection include all the sparkcharts? Otherwise I could dump them all.
>>1507143Do it. Because of the recent disk failure I lost my whole collection.
Bumpan.
>>1507351You're not OP with the dick failure are you? That would suck to lose a collection like that
what are djvu files used with?side note my captcha was "by tourism"
>>1507445I'm not OP.
>>1507445samefag here. How's it comin?
>>1507460http://djvu.org/"DjVu (pronounced "déjà vu") is a digital document format with advanced compression technology and high performance value. OP! SPEAK!
>>1508032Bumping after returning from lectures.
There already exists a useful (albeit somewhat maligned in some circles as antiquated and/or Americentric) hierarchical scheme for organising all knowledge. It's called the Dewey Decimal System, and it's actually pretty darn handy for exactly the sort of thing you're doing.
