    Free markets = Darwinism
    Socialism = creationism

If you guys are scientists then you must be libertarians.
You cant have it both ways.

Shooping your book so it looks like it's being read by a porn star who takes it like a slut? Not the best endorsement.

If we believe in gravity, we should stay as close to the ground as possible at all times.

The premise is flawed. Darwinism describes how nature came to pass, not how it ought to be.

I can see the connection with how a free market is Darwinian, but that doesn't exactly mean good things happen to us.

In a truly free market, we'd probably end up getting reamed in the ass by corporate monopolies.

I wonder if a sort of feudal corporate system where everyone works for one company or another as a serf would actually come about eventually...

The fact that you are even constructing language and communicating with other humans proves that collective social institutions are evolutionary beneficial, as opposed to completely individualistic competition.

Libertarianism is a great life philosophy but a terrible political one. Socialist technocracy for the motherfucking win! (but not until we automate labor and master nuclear fusion)

as a scientist, i see life evolved through darwinian competition.

wtf does that have to do with my personal philosophy?

    I personally support libertarian communalism.

Everyone works together, but aren't FORCED to be a government, simply forced to by social standards.

For example: You have a business, but you start being a dick to your workers. Your community tells you to get your ass in gear. You don't. Your workers quit and/or everyone boycotts your business. You lose on money. Rinse, repeat.

Too bad humans are too lazy these days to do such a thing...

    agreed.

I am mainly libertarian, but when it comes to free markets vs. socialism I tend to sway back and forth with the pros and cons.

At the very least, it should be libertarianism on a large scale, but left to the individual states/towns on the small scale.

Say, for example, this city wants to make it full-on communism. I say, let them (as long as they don't restrict free speech). If a state wants state-sponsored health care, go for it. I don't think that the federal government should have any say in those matters, though, because those matters are the business of the individual state/town, not the whole country.

THAT is what the Libertarian party supports on the federal level, and why the Democrat/Republican parties fail hard.

It doesn't even have to do with laziness - that method is just terribly inefficient. we can't all be experts in everything, and we can micro-manage and micro-supervise everything a business does. You just need reasonable (i.e., not bought-out by lobbyists) and flexible regulation (but how?).

Even after all this shit BP has done, who's going to seriously boycott them in any effectual way? Should we not just have stringent safety regulation of drilling practices?

In my opinion, BP should never have gotten that powerful, or we should get off of our asses and get some other gas company in power.

That's what we should do, at least. Or we could just ignore it, since gas prices are alright right now.

Or we could stop buying gas.
