I personally find the introvert/extrovert dichotomy to be pseudoscientific nonsense. I'd like to see any studies proving the existence of "social energy", or even a definition of what people say when they're referring to "energy".

Supposedly, extroverts get more "energy" from social interaction, which I have to assume means they're more excited about being in a social situation than introverts are. This isn't necessarily an innate trait. Being introverted, I think, just stems from a lack of confidence or a lack of being comfort in social situations due to not knowing the people they're with (or some other factor like a mental condition such as schizoid personality disorder or major anxiety).

In reality, introverts are just shy people with little confidence and probably poor social skills. If you could make them confident in their ability to socially interact, they'd probably become extroverts.

There aren't very many differences between introverts and extroverts, either, besides factors like confidence and shyness. Introverts have just as much social interaction as extroverts do, but they simply choose to pursue their social interaction along different mediums (Skype, instant messaging, forums, etc.) instead of dealing with people in the real world.

i'm comfortable in social situations, i just have a limited shelf life of how much socializing i can take before "burning out" and needing a rest. if i socialize all day every day all the time like some people do, after a day or two I will just start being exhausted and actually start hating the people im hanging out with. even when i spend and entire day with my friends i get enough of them to the point i just want to go home and do something alone.

My wife and I rarely do anything with other people. When we do it's nice seeing friends and whatever but we always end up deciding to leave super early to hang out with each other instead.

During the day we work and when we come home we have a bit of time by ourselves to shower and whatnot and then we spend the rest of the night together.

It's a perfect combination of having time alone and then spending meaningful time with a very important person who feels the same as you and it's wonderful.

Makes sense considering my last few relationships,. Doesn't make actually meeting people any more easy. I was pretty much forced to hang out with my last GF at a school function, but I don't really have those kind of opportunities any more. Don't take it literally. Maybe the only thing about introverts and extroverts is a specific difference in the neural structure of their brains. Just because we don't know the causes doesn't mean we must dismiss the problem.
