i don't believe in this shit
People are tying to label strange people with diagnosis.
Severe autism obviousy is illnes, but light autism and Asperger is not a illness at all, it's just an excuse for people that are weird to be accepted by others

if you label someone with "asperger" from a kid he will always have excuse for his misfortunes in life

if you don't label him he will actually do something in his life and not just crying how fucked up he is

this is true. I now a bloke who blames everything on his aspergers. all he ever posts on facebook is aspie this and aspie this, people call him out on his retarded anime based fetishes and posting hentai on facebook and he just says "but guys, i have this illness, you can't judge me"
    >> Anonymous 01/03/12(Tue)08:18:44 No.965714

    >>965551
That's not true for everyone you stupid fucks. Some of them are just going to be lazy faggots and use it as an excuse (just like normal people that don't have any illness) but a lot of them find it gives them more confidence because they are aware what is wrong with them and they learn that the criticisms they receive for their odd behavior is misinformed. They can go on to be successful, kind of like how the guy in the article is getting a degree at a university and has a girlfriend while you're alone, sitting on r9k complaining that aspies get it easy.
    >> Anonymous 01/03/12(Tue)08:23:46 No.965746
    >>965714
the guy in the article have autism and it's clearly that he can't interact normal

but the girl says that she have asperger, but there is nothing wrong with her, she's just a weirdo that likes wierd guys that don't want to kiss or bang her
He is just her "gay friend"
    It's pretty obvious faggot

I never said the aspie I knew gets it easy, are you that incapable of reading words and interpreting what they mean? As I said, people are constantly telling him to stop posting hentai on facebook and telling him he's a creepy motherfucker, he just blames it on his illness and refuses to change

    Correction: December 30, 2011

An article on Monday about Jack Robison and Kirsten Lindsmith, two college students with Asperger syndrome who are navigating the perils of an intimate relationship, misidentified the character from the animated childrens TV show "My Little Pony" that Ms. Lindsmith said she visualized to cheer herself up. It is Twilight Sparkle, the nerdy intellectual, not Fluttershy, the kind animal lover.

"high-functioning" autism is basically the same as aspergers. Wherever you draw the line, it can't be there.
    >> Anonymous 01/03/12(Tue)09:59:27 No.966422
    >>965904
    >Asperger is not

    No.
Asperger's diagnosis can range from borderline autistic(as in you cannot fucking function in society, period) to you cannot into social relations like other people.
I have mild aspergers so I'm much better off than most other people with the disorder, and I got this diagnosis from seeing a therapist for three years that I still go to.

It doesn't really matter how you want to judge people who are socially inept, they need help. Its not that they are getting that diagnosis to say "welp, I'm aspie stand on eggshells around me!"

    FUCK NO

It's that people like me want to live and work to what we actually want and people like me can't even read emotionally whats going on in a conversation. So something that seems easy as fuck for you is something that I spend a whole day thinking about, and thats just the aspergers, not the stuff that developed from my personal history of living with it and being unable to deal with it.

People that ignore the problem like you clearly haven't met people with mental problems. They are real, and people need help to work through them.

However, I just want to say additionally, that this doesn't mean that you have to give aspies or whatever special treatment or assume that they just need to feel true despair to make something of themselves. These are the kind of people, like me, who would have ended up living at their parents house on disability for the rest of their lives.

As for pretenders who just have mental issues, they might not have asperger's but they could probably benefit from therapy anyways. So, when I see threads like this and people arguing about aspies I believe that you probably have problems in your life that you blame yourself for that you haven't done anything about and think everyone else should be the same.

The only thing that can make my furious is if somebody treats me different because they know I have aspergers.

I'm an aspie myself and signed up to volunteer for a local autism + aspergers support group. One thing I've noticed (and related with) about aspies is they have very little to say but say it well and don't bother with small talk. This tends to make them awkward to talk to, especially for non-autistic people. A lot of my NT friends would say things like "Hi how are you, how's XYZ, good thanks etc" whereas a lot of aspies I've approached will skip all that and ask proper questions to get to know you or simply sit in silence and enjoy your company. A lot of people find silence awkward and attempt to fill the silence with small talk whereas some aspies just don't care about it or don't know what to say to fire up a conversation.

I must say though, aspies are usually far more intelligent and out-of-the-box thinkers than neurotypicals (I met a guy who was borderline low-functioning and he loved telling people everything about his DSi and all its features, he had trouble speaking too but he was still far smarter than half the people in this country). When you meet so many aspies/autistic people you can often tell the difference between them and a NT quite quickly.
The people saying it's a myth have no experience with aspergers or autism and are going based on retarded propaganda and hearsay.

nobody can help you faggets. You just like to be treated like retards, right?

there are people with serious mental problems like schizofrenia, bipolar disorder, maniacal depressions and etc, etc who live constantly in pain. You know that ?

You know nothing about mental problems, you are just complaining about the fact that you don't have a lot of friends and girlfriend. And thinkong that you are an aspies is making you feel better about yourself
    Face it
