I usually get annoyed by "4chan is going downhill" bullshit, but this is one thing I'll agree with. Who the fuck goes on an anonymous imageboard to post pictures of themselves? It defies logic. I don't even mind some of the other stuff that pisses people off, like the chatroulette threads. Having one-on-one chats with random people seems fairly in line with the spirit of 4chan to me. Posting your picture in the desperate hope that someone will give you an ego boost does not. If you want to do that, there are a million and one social networking sites where you can. This is not the place for it.

I fully support the spammer effort going on, but I wish they'd start saging instead of bumping the thread as they spam. Making them unusable is nice, but we need to get them off the front page as well.

I'm not going to disagree about 4chan going downhill, I just think that most of the time making threads about it is a waste of time. As individuals, we can't do anything about general post quality, and I don't think another thread about how much we need mods is going to make moot get off his ass and do something about it.

In contrast the most of the general shittiness of 4chan, camwhore threads give us something specific we can point to and say, "This is awful. This has to stop." I'm not sure what we can do about them (apart from the spamming), but at least it's a concrete problem.
