Asperger's is too weird not to be a real medical condition. I'm not talking people who just act like dweebs, I'm talking people who wear no socks, cut the tags out of their clothing, can't be in the same room as fluorescent lights, and don't understand idioms.

Other symptoms include not remembering someone's face, lack of eye contact, and a focus on one particular subject, and tics.

I feel bad for all of the idiots who think they have Aspergers Syndrome. They actually think they have a medical problem. When you REALLY have Aspergers you don't even notice that you're different. The son of a woman that I have known most of my life has Aspergers. He is the most beautiful young boy you have ever seen. At age eleven he has silky blond hair and deep blue eyes. He's the prettiest boy I've ever seen. You wouldn't know he had a problem until you talked to him for a bit. He doesn't know boundaries. They are not something he can learn, he doesn't know when he's hugging you too hard or touching you at an inappropriate time. He will never be able to function on his own. It's a major problem. That's what a case of real Aspergers is like.

It can get milder though. I used to have very severe Asperger's and go to a support group. Now I am pretty functional (although I still have issues with voice volume and enjoy spinning in circles and banging my head against things when I am alone), and some of the people from that group who were really fucked up have grown up to seem pretty normal. Although the majority are still people I'd rather not be around.

It's great to hear a success story like that but this kid, he's 16 now and he's been through all kind of support groups and the like. His mother does not baby him nor does she act co-dependent. It's like how a blind man will never miss sight because he never had it. There isn't any other reality for this kid.

The point of the argument is that dyslexia doesn't exist as a discrete condition. There are simply good-readers and bad-readers.

    >>8981154

So do I. Staring at someone's eyes the whole time that you're talking to them is weird and off-putting. Most people don't, I think. You certainly notice someone who does stare at you.

I'm notorious for not looking at people when I speak. It's just shyness.

There was an Aspergic kid in my schools from elementary school to high school. You could NOT hold a conversation with him for more than a minute, it was almost impossible. He did act somewhat retarded at times and you couldn't understand anything he said. I actually did manage to borrow this tape he had with Dragonball Z on it, he was (and STILL is) strange, distant, and antisocial. It's real, but too many people self-diagnose themselves as an excuse.

I take a drug which gives me ADD. If I were to stop taking the drug, I would no longer have (what is in my opinion) ADD.

I figure, if God made someone with ADD, then they are supposed to be that way. Could be like diabeetus, though. diabeetus is a diagnosable condition, but it still can have a cause, like the people who eat too much sugar and get it. Could be that people with ADD just have no discipline or no interest in life.
