think you're looking at this too scientifically. The answer is
sex. That's always the answer to teenagers. Until you're like, 30,
40. Then sex becomes a privilege, not a right. Suddenly you want to
avoid paying taxes, flirt with women other than the one you've been
chasing at church (you decided to start going because your boss attends
the one near you and you figure you could get in a good word), and make
sure the BBQ is ready for Sunday's game. Parties have always
featured courting at some point. It's like animals congregating to mate.
Everyone is looking for someone else to fuck. Otherwise, some guys
exchange numbers after a PARTICULARLY SICK game of beer pong, and some
girls add each other on Facebook while having a cigarette outside. It's
cool to have sex. Parties are cool because they lead to sex. When
you and 10 friends have a 'party', it's more of just a big hangout.
Couples might be there, and sometimes, pleasant hookups between people
you expected to hookup happen. But at real parties, you're ultimately
looking to score tail.
