Sup /r9k/, I've been looking at the Arizona immigration law, and I dont see why so many folks are butthurt about it. Hang on to your ID, and you'll be fine. Where there are roughly 460,000 illegal immigrants in the state, the state needs broader power to secure the borders. Your opinions?Pic related
There is no country in Europe where a non EU citizen is permitted to live without a resident permit and French citizens have to carry ID with them at all time and can be asked to produce it by any police officer without any justification. This is the case in most European countries. Most countries in the world require visitors to obtain visas to enter their countries, even tourists, which are granted for short periods of times. Tourist who stay longer are deported and face stiff penalties even in most African and Asian countries. The concept that people can enter another country illegally or by over extending their tourist visa then sending their children to public schools, using local health services, and working in the black market labor poll seems to be unique to some people in the US.
fuck you, enjoy living in a police state
>>8634399Love you too buddy.
>>8634395Right, and if they're in here illegally, they should renew their visas, or marry a national to get in. I don't see a problem in this to be honest.
>mexican neighbor keeps playing loud latin music at night>accuse him of being an illegal immigrant>he's arrested, stays in jail for a week or two until the police work out that he's legal>feels good man
>>8634370The law is obviously racist and I'm happy that the Obama Administration is asking the Justice department to review the law.
>>8634490They want to enforce immigration laws. Most illegal immigrants are Latino. So therefore it's a racist law? Should we also stop arresting criminals because they are usually black?
>>8634484But if he has an ID, which nationals do, there shouldn't be a problem.
>>8634399Read the bill idiot.. doesn't say anything about being a police state. All it does is give the local police the power to enforce LAW WRITTEN BY CONGRESS AND SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT. In other words, they are only enforcing existing laws.
>>8634370your papers please, comrade
>>8634568Certainly! Doing nothing wrong here.
>>8634568l got em.
Fuck your Police States.Live in CanadaPolice: Hey buddy, can I see your ID?Citizen: No, officer.Police: Alright, you have a right not to talk to me without just cause.
>>8634616Do you have to show your ID in traffic stops?
>>8634544They are trying to enforce a law that they have no jurisdiction over. That's why Obama is about to flex his pimp hand.
it's slowly turning into nazi germany, remember that?
i don't think the bill is so opposed because of obvious, in your face racism, but instead because of the potential abuse it brings, by neighbors, employers, and police officers like: >>8634484that stuff will undoubtedly happen under this new law
>>8634616"I have a right not to show my ID just because"*ticket for driving without a license*
No, the problem is even if you're born in the US and appear to be an immigrant(i.e you're parents were immigrants), you could forcefully be detained. So just by virtue of being ethnically Mexican you have to carry ID. Caucasians who could be immigrants, illegal or not, would not have to be worried because they are not the ones being targeted. This is the very definition of discrimination. I'm not saying illegal immigration isn't a problem, I just think this is a shitty way to try to deal with it.
>>8634644Some of the most liberal countries in the world have the same laws.
its a matter of racial profiling and civil liberty intrusion. they are allotting more power to the fucking state that they need not have.
Look at how tiny mexicans are. It's like they are half a real person. I swear I could beat the shit out of half a dozen of those oompa loompas.
>>8634399Probably troll bait, but I'll homnomnomnomThe current policy is not working and its affecting immigrants who came to this country legally. You think it's fair to the Pakistani who's spent 9 years working as a cab driver and taking citizenship courses at night to get his citizenship? What about the Polish woman who cleans people's houses for 14 hours a day? The usual response is always targetted at the mega corporations who've been abusing the current policies by reporting to INS workers in their plants who are illegal and who have essentially outlived their usefulness. This bleeding heart standpoint does not work. It hasn't for the past two decades and won't for time to come.
>>8634670That doesn't make it right. Learn to logic durr.
>>8634668okay, but you realize that the majority of the illegals ARE mexican, right?so you would have them just do nothing?cause that isnt working out very well.just admit that you are acting as a fucking quisling for illegal immigrants.signed,a mexican
I support the Arizona law and I hope more states follow suit, especially Texas.
The 4th amendment requires that police has 'reasonable suspicion' that a crime has been committed before temporarily detaining them to investigate a crime. What factors lead to a reasonable suspicion that someone is an illegal immigrant? If it's the color of their skin and their language skills, you risk including far too many innocent people in your search. More broadly, what reason is there to believe that a crime has been committed at all just by looking at a person. The law only works if police are stopping every hispanic they see to check for immigration status. Sure, they could just carry around ID cards, but they shouldn't have to, and they shouldn't feel unwelcome in their own country.
>>8634668This. I have no problem with Republican ideals, and they have a lot of issues that I agree with, but damned if they don't do it in the most ass-backward way possible. They're what happens when an annoying little forum turd says "Derp we should just kill all the Pakis to end terrorism" and actually means it.
I don't give a fuck if they round those munchkins up and throw them in a gas chamber. They are not even real people, let alone U.S. citizens.
>>8634652But thats the thing, folks need to drive, you have a SSN, you got a birth certificate, you got a Drivers lisence. There's no reason at least one of those things shouldn't be in your house. Got it in a safety deposit box? You'd be suprised what court appointed laywers can do, such as go to your bank and get the said papers for you.
The Federal Government won't do anything about it, so the state is. This law is going to fail in court before it is enacted, but it is forcing the government to stand up and take notice.
I remember when 4chan used to be against fascism instead of indifferent towards it/supporting it, or at best, completely ignorant of the kinds of things that lead to it.
>company buys land from under feet of locals in mexico to open poverty-wage paying factory. dips hand in pocket of local resources.legal, legit, 'merican.>mexican hops the border looking for better life. cannot afford schooling to learn english nor cost of obtaining citizenship due to lifelong poverty status. evil illegal.
>>8634731well, of course any U.S citizen would have those things...but it doesn't make it any less traumatizing when the cops show up to your house at 2 AM over an "anonymous tip". even if a cop isn't corrupt, most of you haven't read this bill. the levels on which it can be interpreted are insane, and thats why it needs judicial review.
>>8634822The difference between the two, one came in through the gate, the other didnt.
I don't want to live in a society where every shitdick cop can stop me on the street and demand ID for no reason.
>>8634720good call mate???>>>>>8634729
Ummmm ID Card? Don't have one...You will..Remember that little thing that Obama signed called the health bill....National Health Card Required...Talk about a police state..yahoo thats your nigger president that did that one to you
>>8634838>implying a company needs anything more than money and political connection to appropriate public land in mexico. there is no visa necessary for globalizing that area, friend.
>>8634837Whatever keeps the borders secure, I guess. You know that 42 Illegal immigrants were found in a house yesterday evening?
>>8634704>they shouldn't feel unwelcome in their own country.>illegal immigrants shouldn't feel unwelcomeIllegal immigrants are fine with breaking our laws. They'll break as many as they can get away with. They don't care about our country or paying into the system for everyone else. These are the exact same people who SHOULD feel unwelcome.
>>8634628>>8634662That's different. Because you have done something to warrant being detained. What we are talking about here is that you can't be walking around, approached by an officer and be compelled to present ID.
get the fuck out of my USA, sand niggers.go find jobs on the moon, or canada, or wherever you cum from
>>8634855Cool, then this whole "No ID" thing is settled.
>>8634889Yee-haw! don't mess wit texas!
