I hate how the government acts like your fucking nanny, taxing tobacco and alcohol and all sorts of other shit because its unhealthy for you.

In my opinion, if they want to ban cigarettes/tax cigarettes for health reasons, then they should also be banning/taxing fat people for being fat. It's much worse for you than smoking.

I think we should demonize fat people like they demonized smokers. I've already started demonizing fat people in my personal life, and I think you all should do the same. Every time you see a fat person, tell them "being fat kills."

If I ever have kids, every time we walk past a fat fuck, I'm going to point at them and say "kids, that is what happens when you eat too much and don't care about yourself."

Who else thinks they should start taxing fat people? Or at least that they should be demonized like smokers and all that?

    Did I say "a little overweight"?`

No, I said fat. Fat as in doesn't fucking work out, eats way to fucking much, clogs their arteries and all that fun shit, can't climb a flight of stairs without feeling a bit winded, etc.

Although, inhaling the smoke from just one cigarette isn't that lethal to you at all, so since you compared "being a little overweight" to "inhaling the smoke from a cigarette", I would have to say yes, being a little bit overweight is less lethal than inhaling the smoke from A cigarette.

Pic related, it shows why so much anti-smoking propeganda is bullshit. Cigarettes certanly aren't good for you, but they are overly demonized, as are smokers themselves.

How about instead of taxing people being fat, we tax foods that they most likely buy to get fat, like Coke and Twinkies and fucking pies and shit.

Step 1: Ban the purchases of junk food for use with an EBT card. You're on state benefits to get by, not stuff your fucking face full of garbage.

Step 2: "Sin Tax" where junk food is taxed extra because of the health-detriments and higher health-costs that are associated with it.

Step 3: Cut down the amount of servings per bag. Goddamn fatties don't know when enough is enough when wolfing on a bag of chips.

Shit's deplorable, but the easy access for shitty foods is the problem, not fat people themselves (not wholly, anyway).

My grandpa died of lung cancer because he smoked cigarettes.

And no, he didn't smoke 500 packs a day. I hardly ever even saw him with a cig, and I remember that he even tried to quit and succeeded for like, 9 years.

But on the 10th year, he got lung cancer and slowly wasted away into death.

But yeah, you're probably right...cigarettes are definitely overly demonized. Hahaha those crazy anti-smoking ads are just silly :P

My grandparents smoke about a pack a day each, and have smoked since their late teens. They are in their late 70's, no sign of cancer, and are both pretty healthy.

I think cancer is more of a genetic thing, probably an overall health thing really.

Also no offense to your grandpa or anything, but there is no way to know if his cancer came from cigarettes or not. Lots of people like to blame cigarettes for ANY and ALL cancer, but there are many things that cause cancer other than cigarettes.

I'm a chubby dude (overweight, but not obese - fat by my standards, "average" by society's) and I support this.

We grew up in a culture that preached to us again and again that being fat was okay. And I grew up in a family that used food and meals as punishment tools, and with grandparents who force-fed me as a comfort tool. I was a fat FUCK as a kid.Not once was a proper, healthy diet or lifestyle taught to me.

I educated myself, as an adult, and got fit. But of course, one divorce and three ruined relationships later (all women will eventually cheat on you lol), I've started to get fat again. Alcoholism + comfort foods is bad in theory, but when you genuinely stop giving a fuck about what happens to you, it's easy to just revert to childhood habits (well, and adult vices).

If kids were raised to hate fatties, and taught how and why people become fat, and given a proper education AT HOME (to counter the propaganda of the school system), then ffs we'd not have a global epidemic of fat people on our hands.

No, you don't get it. Ever seen a WIC cheque? They specify "instant" and generic foods, over healthier, same-price items. The whole point of welfare is to keep the poor in their place. The system is designed to support you enough that you continue to either: work in shit-tier jobs or; contribute to the burden which holds your race/social group down at the bottom of society.

If welfare helped poor people get out of poverty, we would not have enough poor people for our society to continue running on them.

When I was a kid, my mother used to slip her anger management drugs into my food. Caused a bunch of hormonal problems for me and made me not give a fuck, so by the time I moved out for college, I was 270 lbs.
In college, I was off the drugs, so I realized how fucked up I was. So I joined a gym and quickly shed the fat to a comfortable 180 lbs and normalized my hormone levels.
Problem is - I now have a bunch of loose skin which I can't fill out with muscle because it just won't grow. I've had instructors give up on me and doctors tell me that I'm perfectly healthy and probably just don't have much potential on a genetic level.

As fastfood industries bulked up to meet demand, their customers bulked up as a result. No, but it seems to me the government is, and there are so many people on the "its unhealthy, lets tax the fuck out of it!" bandwagon.

The point of this thread is that if they are going to tax the fuck out of us, limit choices of shit, etc. for doing something unhealthy, they should be doing it for everything else unhealthy, and especially things that cause a lot of health problems.

Although ideally, they should stop taxing the fuck out of/banning unhealthy shit.

Perhaps they would if food industries weren't goading them with adverts of 'super-size this meal for 59c more!' and others of the ilk. It has been taught to most of all children throughout the decades to 'eat up everything on your plate' to the point where it's almost an american mantra. And of course food industries are going to capitalize on this. People can resist many things, but temptation isn't one of them.

    Absolutely, totally fucking wrong.
If fat fucks didn't eat that much, food producers would rage and try to put their shitty product (corn, for example - in the form of high fructose corn syrup) everywhere. It would definitely not go to starving niglets.

It is either burned or dumped into a hole to rot.
No food company will decrease their monetary gains to feed some starving Africans.
Not that it's a bad thing. It would just make them incredibly dependent, totally incapable of getting food themselves and "secure" enough to breed far faster than they would otherwise, thus causing another period of starvation, now with far, far more mouths to feed.

Tobacco and alcohol should just have normal level taxes going on, not absurdly huge taxes that are worth more than the fucking product is in the first place.

There are many more luxuries, but they aren't taxing them to this absurd level because they aren't unhealthy/"sinful".

What if they had a tax on diamond rings that was higher than its value? Would that be fair? Diamond rings are even more of a luxury than cigarettes and alcohol.
