No, it was
land owned by forestry NZ, they farmed pine trees on the real rugged
parts and when they harvest the trees instead of cleaning up the mess
left from the deforesting they just sell it to local farms at an
insanely cheap price.
Note the line of Pine trees on the left of

That's the
boundary, in a few years that will be for sale after the trees are cut
