Sounds like your friend doesn't attribute the same negative connotation to the term "stoner" as you do.

I tend to use "stoner" pejoratively as well.. I used to be a stoner, now I usually go for a month without, then a week getting stoned, and so on.

I no longer consider myself a stoner.. and my understanding of it is someone who smokes every day, is lazy, and whose plans usually begin with "smoke a little weed"..

People use labels to denigrate those who make different lifestyle decisions because they're scared and self-conscious.

I have nothing against weed. All things in moderation, and in the short run, it is not going to turn you into an indestructible, disgusting, remorseless and vicious weapon of the devil. I don't toke up, but it's not from opposition to drugs, I've never been that compelled to and I'm a bit of a health psychopath.

Mind you, the legal implications still make it a stupid thing to do, but I only say that because getting caught would undoubtedly suck.

Really though, everything is a drug these days, and more of them can silently kill you than you'd like. If you're not an idiot about it (that refers to both managing usage and how often you smoke it/who you do it with or allow to know that you do it), then hell, good for you and have an awesome life.

The only drug users that piss me off are the ones who talk about NOTHING but them, and then expect you to be impressed or amazed when they say how fucked up they got the other night. It is dependent on what 'stoner' means to you. Some people use 'stoner' for anyone who smokes weed. Others use it for people who sit around and do nothing except smoke weed all day and not have a job etc etc.

You seem to have the latter view whereas your friend seems to have the former.

I'm in the UK and was pretty against smoking weed until I went and stayed with my friend in the USA and smoked for the first time there and i REALLY enjoyed it, It was awesome, much better than drinking.

Problem is I don't know any dealers where I live back in the UK so I've only smoked once since :( Bawwww

I'm with you OP, smoke some stuff on weekends/boring afternoons at most, social life, studying, etc.. Wouldn't consider me a stoner, I'd say a stoner is someone who doesn't have much else but weed in his life, maybe he has a social life and whatnot, but if all you ever do you do stoned you can proudly consider yourself a stoner.

TO be honest I wouldnt consider soemone who smoked weed daily but had a normal life otherwise a stoner, a stoner is more of a person who lets his drug usage take control of his life. I`ve smoked weed everyday(!) for about 6years.
I`ve spend about 100-130euros for weed every week.
Today is the first day without weed and iam feeling like something important is missing....but iam glad ive decided to stop smoking

Erryday if its possible but lately its not because I don't have a reliable cheap connection up here at school. I consider myself somebody that likes to escape, and because marijuana is generally the cheapest, safest, and easiest to obtain method of escape I end up doing it a lot. Stoner no, escapist yes.
