the same day he was featured on NYU Local.
In the article, many
well known advertisers are reluctant to associate their products
(despite the fact that 4chan has many other imageboards) with the bawdy
reputation that 4chan has developed over the years because of /b/ -
Random.
And no, he does not want to manage the site forever and
he knows that this website may not last forever. However he said in a
New York Times blog that he may be willing to sell the website if the
new owners are committed to its goals. (But if the website dies, it will
leave another legacy not mentioned on the NYU Local article:
Introducing the Western World a new form of discourse.)
He's
aware of the occasional racism, the CP, and the website invasions. Even
though racism is permitted on /b/, CP is not allowed on 4chan, and
website invasions are definitely not allowed (although it's prohibited
to call in invasion, they happen away.).
The article also makes a
reference that law enforcement actually monitors 4chan for any law
breaking activity. Although the information is often difficult to
collect because the userbase is mostly anonymous, and it does not help
that 4chan does not have a archive, so unless you archive the threads
and pictures yourself, they're gone forever.
And moot does a
little consulting work on the side. Source:
