  • Kimmo Alm aka "Sysop" from AnT has been spamming us for YEARS now, and has recently stepped it up. This shit has got to fucking stop.
As promised, here are all of the e-mails he has sent me over the years (and my responses).
    ↑ UPDATED March 16th! ↑
One of Kimmo's ex-moderators posted hundreds of PMs. They are absolutely hilarious/terrifying.

Moot is working on a new image board. A rebooted 4chan. What will this mean for 4chan? Will you migrate to the new site when it is up?

Everyone from here will flock to there, and depending on how moot handles it the place will end up just as shitty.

If he has more mods or charges $10 for sign up (ban deterrence, assurance of 18+) like SA then I'm all for it.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)11:54:36 No.7982016
Dumb. 4chan is popular because of brand name, not because of it's great features.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)11:56:15 No.7982030
It probably won't end up any better than here.

That may be why its popular, but that's not why its great:

    1. Anonymity: No post counts, no namefaggotry, no signatures, no taglines, no avatars, no persistant quoting, no logging in, no sucking up to older users, no circlejerking between the "hardcore elite," no e-peen waving, no post count elitism...

Really, forced Anonymity gets rid of a lot of bullshit that drags down other forums.

    2. (Mostly) Invisible Moderation: Barring the occasional circumstance where a poster is banned, his thread stickied, and his metaphorical head placed upon a metaphorical pike as an example to other posters on a board of how not to do things, most moderation here is invisible.

You don't have egotistical faggots banning people for stupid, ridiculous shit, you don't have people brown-nosing and kowtowing and sucking moderator cock, and when you are finally banned, its usually done quietly, quickly, and with a minimum of fanfare.

I could list more, but, honestly, those two features alone catapult 4chan well beyond other forums in my eyes.

    >>7982014
    >charges $10 for sign up (ban deterrence, assurance of 18+)

    I like this idea, Anon.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:23:37 No.7982271
He says it won't replace 4chan, but I'm hoping for a reboot of the tech behind 4chan. If the new site is only about the tech with similiar or same content, I don't see the point of it at all. If it's something else, I'll be disappoint if the tech won't migrate here.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:27:39 No.7982297
    >>7982267
    All chans have those features.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:29:03 No.7982304
    >>7982271
Well, what sort of tech would you be hoping for?

All I could really imagine is the Firefox 4chan App/thing integrated right into the board (hiding threads and images, that sort of thing). Other than that, I couldn't really want much more.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:30:47 No.7982315
    >>7982304
I think the new tech will mostly be behind the scenes type of stuff. Things that the users don't see.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:34:04 No.7982332
    vapor ware.

    >If he has more mods or charges $10 for sign up (ban deterrence, assurance of 18+) like SA then I'm all for it.

Only faggots are willing to pay money for posting rights on a random internet board, and any such board will thus be populated only by faggots.

SA is a prime example of this.

There are other features of anonymous-forums, like a focus on contribution, collaboration, and a shared culture.

Also, charging ten bucks will go against everything than an anonymous-board stands for. Because it implies forced registration.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:40:32 No.7982388
Whatever it is it needs a better sage function.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:41:49 No.7982396
    >>7982388

No, it doesn't. The only problem with sage is that it doesn't do what 99% of users think it does.

    >>7982396

It really seems that with Moot's new found attention to 4chan that shit is going to happen - for better or for worse, something is going to happen.

I'd advise for the next year everybody hold onto their hats. Shit goin' down.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:44:26 No.7982417

    What does it really do?
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:46:24 No.7982438
    >>7982304
Yup, that sort of stuff along with behind-the-scenes development and, in general, better functioning ways of navigating the site and following threads. We can't say exactly what would be the best system, that's why moot and others have design work to do.
    >> Anonymous 03/20/10(Sat)12:48:29 No.7982453
    >>7982429

You, sir, get one (1) sticker. What it does not do, is report or take away from the thread or anything active. Most people seem to take "sage goes in all fields" seriously.

the only thing SA assures is that you will be surrounded by the kind of people who have $10 to pay for a fucking Internet website AND WILL ACTUALLY PAY IT. This cannot be overstated: the only real service Something Awful provides is keeping all of the awful shitheads in a single place. Horrible Dramatica sociopaths meet shitty Usenet beardo culture and keep a creepy yellow-fever douchebag in t-shirts and fad diet food with a minimum of effort and enough left over to pay a circlejerk of self-justifying dorks to ban everyone who isn't a boring autist.

If moot attempts to recreate this gross spectacle and abandon 4chan, which is arguably the only decent thing to ever come out of SA, I will do everything in my power to render it unusable.
