whatever makes you happy, but you should still plan for the future,
even if it doesn't involve socializing. You COULD skip college, make
ends meet, and spend all your free time indoors and be OK for decades.
Though, if at any time in the future that you feel trapped in your
apartment, or want something more out of life than what you've given
yourself every day for years, or get fired, you're fucked. Trust me, I'm
obsessive compulsive and sometimes I feel like I can just do the same
thing for years and be happy, but I know that after a while either I'd
feel the need to "stretch my legs" and do something different, or
extenuating circumstances will interfere with my schedule, so I try not
to get carried away with things. Go to college. Sure, it'll take a few
years and you'll still have to pay off student loans, but you'll still
be making a LOT more money for the same amount of energy you'll be
expending at some dead-end job. Not only that, you'll have more options
and security in your future. Having a skill like engineering puts you on
a whole nother level above the general population, and removes them as a
threat to your well-being. When the economy gets bad, you're better off
having a skill that a lot of people need and most people don't have,
rather than trying to make yourself stand out in an ocean of unskilled
people desperate for money fighting for the same jobs. If you
want to live your life the way you described, you still can after
college. Not only does going to college exponentially secure your
well-being in the future, but you'll have a ton more money for doing the
same amount of work. You might not think you need the money, but it's
better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
