  • Kimmo Alm aka "Sysop" from AnT has been spamming us for YEARS now, and has recently stepped it up. This shit has got to fucking stop. As promised, here are all of the e-mails he has sent me over the years (and my responses).

We've done all we can do about him. We've banned THOUSANDS of proxies, and deleted OVER A HUNDRED THOUSAND spam posts. His attacks continue though, and we've reached the limit of what we can do.
edit: we aren't going to add captcha.

You know what? I quit my job as a $100k a year software devoloper to pursue a career as a slam poet.

Sure, the pay is very variable, BUT the joy I get from speaking my mind infront of a audience easily makes up for that.

Software devolopment gets incredibly dull when you are staring at a screen for 12 hours all day every day. I just wasnt fulfilling to me at all.

I'm pretty sure they're referring to the wrong type of Systems engineer, because there's two types (each completely different): one is an actual engineer and the other has to do with IT. The others you can do straight out of college.

You aren't Jonathan Zawada, are you? If you are, then I would suck your dick just based on your portfolio.

How did you arrive at your specific style? Was it a result of simply trying everything, or was there a particular style that you tried to emulate?

    Connections vs talent? Which wins?

Sorry for all the questions, but you seem to have done all the right things.

There seems to be much confusion of what a Systems Engineer is: it can either mean a Systems Engineer or a Sys. Admin; two completely different things. Even though the chart denotes the Sys. Admin type, I'm fairly certain that this is a mistake.

I have seen it happen before, so I know it's possible, but you are full of shit. Your marketing-copy tier description of yourself says as much. You couldn't even tell me a graphic design trend that you kept up on, because you're not old enough. Any self-respecting company would not pay a freelancer to brand them.

Lol they aren't referring to sys admins, and sys admins are never called systems engineers.

A system engineer is a person that organizes the front to back integration of an IT system. They plan and manage the implementation of large scale IT systems. For example, they'd organize the development of the servers, database, client platform, and general tech stack necessary to deliver IT functionality to say, a hospital, or a large corporation.

It has nothing to do with the kind of engineering you're thinking of.
    >> Anonymous 03/15/10(Mon)01:58:48 No.7910319
The reason no engineers made the list is because they are all going to be outsourced to India within the next 10 years.

Going to FSU to get my Bachelor's in Merchandising, then hopefully I will be accepted into FIT in New York and get my Master's in Fashion Design. The dream is to become either a buyer for a couture line or become a designer myself. If that doesn't go through, I will be able to get any top level retail job with ease.

    >> Anonymous 03/15/10(Mon)02:07:22 No.7910463
    >>7910265
A systems engineer is an actual, traditional type of engineer. They manage large projects that require different types of engineers (mechanical, electrical, computer) and coordinate them to create whatever is their goal. It could, but generally does not, have anything to do with IT.

    Refer to
    http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bestjobs/2009/snapshots/1.html

The author is incorrect in listing the sector as IT, but the description is accurate.

Perhaps I'm wrong about Sys. Admins also being called Systems Engineers, but a cursory Google search shows that the two terms often go together and interchangeably. Either way, they're both IT sector jobs and have nothing to do with the job the article/chart is referring to.

He's bullshitting you, period. There's not a single infographic or annual report on that site. It's very hard to be making $100,000 at 21 no matter what you do.
