  • Over the past 48 hours 4chan's formspring page has gotten over 12,000 questions, and I've received over 3,000 e-mails. Many thanks to everyone who submitted a question, and sent me a message! I was able to respond to a few hundred e-mails and had hoped to start answering questions on formspring, but it seems that the number of questions broke the page. Once that's sorted out, I'll sift through them and answer as time allows.
Thanks again for all of the support!

In other news, /rs/ now processes MediaFire/MegaUpload/and a bunch of other links correctly (this had been broken for months). The old links should be updated in about a week (the checker is taking a while).
Thanks to Popcorn Mariachi for spontaneously appearing and fixing this.

Final reminder: Ask questions here, e-mail me here (I read *every* one), and follow 4chan on the Twitter here.

    College.

It has the best Nuclear Medicine program in the state, according to my state and the college and a community college in another city said.

    My College is Awesome BECAUSE:

    1. It is one of the largest Universities in the US, with over 50,000 students.

    2. Sports programs are life here, and students can get cheap if not free tickets to all games.

    3. Actually considered one of the most prestigious public universities in the US. (Overall)

    4. My university has the highest ranked engineering college (my major) in the state, and one of the best in the midwest.

    5. The University Hospital is one of the best in the country.

    6. UBER concert scene, with a theatre sized concert hall two blocks away as well as two stadiums and a outdoor concert pavilion in the city.

    7. My university is in an urban area. Although the city absolutely loves the school, it is not there BECAUSE of the school (if you understand what I'm saying).

    8. The Student Union Puts on awesome shows. We've had Will Ferrall, Demitri Martin, Zach Galafanakis, Dave Chappelle, Daniel Tosh, Rhianna, Ludacris, Jim Gafagan, John Stewart w/ The Daily Show, and many more as FREE shows for students. (all mention were in the past 4 years)

    9. Great party scene. The school is so big that you can pretty much walk into any house party you see going on, socialize, drink beer, and no-one gives a shit. Cops are very leniant and look the other way on underage drinking, as long as you don't get rowdy and make a scene or get into a fight. Also, many many bars on campus with cheap beer and dollar-a-mug nights (my favorite).

    University of Florida student here.
Awesome athletics. Since I've been here, 2 basketball championships, 2 football championships. Several other sports are equally awesome.

Atmosphere here is incredible. Gainesville is purely a college town, and thus the community is pretty amazing. Parties are great, socializing is fun.
50000+ students, with a F/M ratio of >.5 . Consistently rated among top 5 party school in the nation (#2 this year, #1 last year etc).

On top of the fun, it has a decent reputation for academics, at least in engineering. Certainly not a Tech school, but respected enough to land most jobs.

    I love it here.

Come to Penn State. Joe Paterno says so.

Also, we have a shit ton of research going on here. Almost every professor on campus is leading research in one thing or another. Plus we have quite possibly the best Honors College in the nation.

Plus #1 party school last year and #1 student section football games for two years straight.

Honestly, its a great school and its worth the time to look into deeper.

Final note - I don't like knocking other schools, etc. so

I was born and raised in Madison, WI. Yeah, we have a lot of weed rallies or whatever and weed is pretty much legal here (you can possess up to an ounce legally) but you can't just smoke weed in the street. Except at Harvest Fest.

You're probably thinking of the Miflin Block Party. Or FreakFest (Halloween).

Prestigious (I'm in for philosophy/politics. Our philosophy dept. is #1 in the nation and our politics department is up there too. Also math majors rejoice here. And theater of course. Also, we're on of the "New Ivys" whatever that means)

No campus (some people hate this, but it totally immerses you in the city)

The fucking city. Parties if you're into it (and you don't even need to know party-going people, just bring girls and clubs will love you). Plus there are of course copious amounts of substances to abuse if you're into that. However what I really love about it is that whatever your interest is, there are events related to it in the city. I've been to countless extra-curricular lectures and events over the course of the year, and I'm a frosh.

    Cons

*Technically not recognized as an "official art school"
*Can't live off campus without losing a good chunk of your scholarship
*School dining sucks balls, except Byte Cafe, but is still fucking overpriced
*Dean and other school officials are cheap, heartless robots who are more concerned with saving a buck than the concerns of the students

    However,

*The professors (in my major at least) a very qualified, really easy to get along with
*School sets you up with a job before you graduate, with alot of people going to work for big name companies (i.e Pixar, Dreamworks, Digital Domain, etc...)
*Three classes a quarter, with classes 4 days a week, 3 day weekends for all
*Apartment style dorms are fucking awesome, with kitchen and living room (furniture provided)
*20 minutes away from the beach

    not so bad bro

    UC Berkeley
    Academics
35/36 departments are top 10 in the world. no other school in the world has that breadth of talent, liberal arts and sciences (one of the Ivy League's big weaknesses: shitty engineering. yeah, that's one of our specialties). Basically, if you get goods grades in your major, it means you're one of the best in your field. But it's hard as shit.

    Prestige
On the west coast, the only comparable schools are Stanford and Caltech. Maybe UCLA, depending. Recruiters for everything.
Tech: Google, Amazon, Yahoo!, Microsoft, Bechtel, Lockheed, Genentech....basically any Silicon Valley company you can think of.
Finance, Consulting: Goldman, Merill Lynch, JP Morgan, Deloitte, Citigroup, BoA...
Graduate schools: people go everywhere. Berkeley grad school is amazing, so being an alum helps you get in, but HLS, HBS, SGSB, etc. Berkeley commands respect.

Major plus: no affirmative action, legacy admissions bullshit here. nice to know that nobody got in because their daddy bought the school a chemistry lab. Or because they're black. Fuck that.

    Social Life
Frat parties are chill. At other schools it can be tough if you're a guy, but I haven't had problems getting or getting drinks. Coops are sketch, but if you want drugs you can get them. Off campus parties are chill...It's a work hard-play hard atmosphere. Tons of clubs, intramural sports, stuff to get involved with. If you're bored, it's your fault. People are nice, not too pretentious. 40% Asian, 35% White, and that's pretty much all you'll see. Some Hispanics, a few blacks.

    Cost
$25k with no aid, but with aid, you might not pay anything. It's cheaper than a similar elite private.

My complaints: too many protests. it's not as liberal as people make it out to be, but still fucking annoying. not as many hot girls. pretty much it. I love it.

It's Ohio State, right? Anyway, fuck that shit, you mentioned absolutely NOTHING about academics.

Why you would rather go to my school:
    1) We are also a large public school, great athletics (perennial top 25 bball/hockey/football), while having top-notch academic programs; specifically, our
    2) Genetics program is one of the preeminent in the world. In addition, we teach
    3) over 60 different languages, and offer over 25 different language majors. Our school is the top public university in terms of languages taught and quality of language departments. In addition, we make it really easy to study abroad, with
    4) over 250 study abroad programs in 100 different countries on 5 continents.
    5) We also have one of the best alumni support systems in the Big 10, particularly in New York, Chicago/Illinois, and Boston.
    6) We are located in our state's capitol, one of the most progressive cities in the midwest, evidenced by the fact that our Chancellor is a lesbian, and our representative to congress is as well. We have a great bar scene (gay and straight), our campus is very centralized near the middle of the city and active with volunteering, community outreach, and city politics.
    7) We also have great shows/concerts, of a more indie/niche variety, again showcasing our progressive nature; most of our shows are put on by local businesses, rather than the student body, ensuring we will have recurring shows and great acts in smaller venues where you really feel connected to the artist; for instance, I saw Hurt last fall in concert in a venue of maybe 150 people; the show was the best concert experience of my life, and the crowd was amazing.
    8) Finally, our school has more alumni that are Fortune 500 CEOs than all but one other university (Harvard).

    Can you guess my school?

But they're tons of laughs with their orange faces, North Face Parkas and Ugg boots in winter, so we put up with them. Also, they don't really get involved in university-run orgs here, so we don't really care what they do as long as they don't burn down their apartment buildings or rape chicks; interesting fact, two UW greek houses lost their charters, 1 because it poured buckets of shit on their pledges, the other because they hosted a rager @ a local art gallery (LOL) after being on probation for providing to minors. I mention this mainly because the coasties (i.e. east-coasters) come here and get involved in the greek scene over all the awesome shit our university has outside of frat row.

I really like Reed College. Like a college crush on a college I have never attended/won't attend.

i'm a freshman. but any other college would be worse, i think. the main problem is i hate drinking culture, and that's obviously at all colleges.

i'm not a square though, i love ecstasy and shrooms and things.

Is that University of Maryland College Park?

That's a really fucking good school. You should go there. I have a few friends from high school who go there and they all love it.

I love it when I go to visit too. :3

    Pros:
-Amazing prospects if you want to do anything medicine related, your'e almost guaranteed a spot in most medical schools.
-Highly ranked undergrad program, tons of recruiters from big companies so you have really good job prospects
-Very active social life with tons of events every weekend, but if you're not into partying there is still a good variety of things to do.
-The basketball games are amazing here

    Cons:
-Tuition is pretty steep, ~$50k a year, though I'm on a scholarship so I'm not really affected
-For just about any major that matters, the workload is pretty steep
    -Durham, NC is a wasteland.

UMCP is perfectly fine. I went there. Decent academics, good party life, above-average athletics. Not a party school, but not someplace like Duke or U of Chicago where fun goes to die.

TBH, anything is pretty fine, so long as it's half decent

Most employers either see ivy league or just another college. Five years out from graduation your resume and interview will matter so much more than what college you went to.

You two gonna get herpes, enjoy your clown school while I graduate from University of Florida.

Really though, FSU is only good for drama, arts, and clowns. Your parties aren't even better, that's just a myth to overcompensate for UF being better at parties and academics. Forreal.

Shit, I'm currently studying at University of Maryland.

Want to know why it's awesome? Art Attack, the University's annual festival, and the night of the event they have this huge concert. It happens every Spring.

Another awesome thing that happens every Spring semester is Maryland Day. Just Google it, I need to go to bed.
