  • Over the past 48 hours 4chan's formspring page has gotten over 12,000 questions, and I've received over 3,000 e-mails. Many thanks to everyone who submitted a question, and sent me a message! I was able to respond to a few hundred e-mails and had hoped to start answering questions on formspring, but it seems that the number of questions broke the page. Once that's sorted out, I'll sift through them and answer as time allows. Thanks again for all of the support!

In other news, /rs/ now processes MediaFire/MegaUpload/a bunch of other links correctly (this had been broken for months). The old links should be updated in 24-48 hours. Thanks to Popcorn Mariachi for spontaneously appearing and fixing this.

    36 KB The End of 4chan Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)23:12:08 No.7690478
Write a brief end-of-4chan scenario, as impossible, humorous, or brief as you please. I'm entrusting this to you, beleaguered and dateless robots of Saturday night browsing, because I figure we are in great need of entertainment. I'll start!

I imagine that someday, most likely in the far future, a new meme will be born. And, instead of withering away into unpopularity, this meme will be reposted relentlessly until the denizens of 4chan become akin to a biological botnet. This "super meme" infiltrates every board, becoming so pervasive that 4chan is no longer able to function within any degree of relevance (every single board is /b/). Stuck between the users and the site, moot runs away, allowing 4chan to expire permanently.

Scenario 2: moot accidentally the WHOLE WEBSITE.

    Thanks bro.

I see everyone would rather spend their time in the "post ur chat" threads, so I give up.

In the not to distant future, 4chan will be DDOS'd for decades at a time.

4Chan actually grows so large that it becomes real mainstream and a part of everyone's day to day life. Then, it ceases to be 4Chan as we know it, because 4Chan became the internet.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)23:17:43 No.7690573
Moot decides he's tired of this place. Sells it. The userbase rebells against new owner, everyone leaves.

Every 10 years someone discovers that 4chan is back up and a shitstorm happens while everyone tries to connect to the site before it goes down again within the hour. It'll be like fucking Haley's comet.

FBI seize control of the site

on top of every page is stickied

    PARTY'S OVER BOYS!

and then they start banning everyone and anyone who posts

4chan becomes so large that, in accordance to Einstein's law of gravity, it will ripple space time, pulling more and more of the internet into it's gravitational pull. However this exponential growth will then cause unrest with the core of anonymous, who will then decide to leave.

Without it's core, its center, 4chan will implode, however with that much gravity, it will become a black hole, nothing more that gravitational pull (attention, notoriety, etc.) sucking all of the internet in on itself. Thus will the internet cease to exist. On a thursday.

After a year-long DDOS by whatever faggots hate us tomorrow, 4chan is on it's last legs. moot, deep in debt and desperate, plans on shutting the site down, only to recieve a million envelopes in the mail.

Perplexed, moot opens one. It's a check. In a final valiant effort to save their beloved website, 4channers managed to find dox on moot himself, and sent him millions of dollars in a grand show of support and unity.

moot then cashes these checks and spends the rest of his life doing cocaine and hookers in mexico. 4chan dies.

    legal troubles will kill 4chan.

there's just too much illegal stuff going on here (not that I'm against that). the silver bullet will be when palin gets in office and the country goes more conversafag... which will loosen up moot's protection that he once had as a meta-entity on the inner-tubes.

it'll be a plain-vanilla cease and decist order, or the teef will come out to catch the ringleader of the "criminal operation(s)."

Absurd both because Palin is never holding any meaningful office again, and because if she did become President the country would swing liberal in a facepalm response to her failure, much like it did towards the end of the Bush Jr. era.

moot finally gets employment in a job after college. Eventually the job has gotten into much time, that he has to close down the site within a month.

But later just before the shutdown, a dedicated team of 4channers managed to set up a new website bigger and better than the original 4chan, and it's user base transitioned seamlessly. While /b/tards will go into complete anarchy for a bit, in the end the legacy lives on with the new website.

i had a dream about the death of 4chan. it was really strange, there was some sort of memorial convention for it where we all gave up our anonymous and found out who moot really was and made a bunch of friends...
