Freemasonry is basically a religion. Well, its not a religion, its an interpretion of multiple religions. Everything from Christianity to Bhuddist concepts are analysed. They believe all humans are inately aware of the truth, but no single religion forms a complete picture.

But what do they do? Some silly ceremonies and some civic stuff like picnics and fundraisers.

Its basically just a social club for old men.

it's a stupid fucking club for old men, like a bowl's club. My grandpa was one. They sit around and drink beer and watch TV. end of story
    >> Anonymous 02/23/10(Tue)12:26:40 No.7629340
I'm a freemason and we don't really do much aside from charity work and social drinking. You know how jews and chinese and shit all stick together? It's like the same shit, but for white people. I got in no problem because I'm like a 5th generation mason. If you show up and you're a decent guy and not a weirdo they'll skip you ahead a few levels too because they're sort of desperate for younger guys. If you got ten or twelve of your friends together you could quickly take over.

Nah, its basically just a club.

But guys that want to take over the world are often times members of said club.

Although the religious part of the Freemasons believes in a united world. They believe the ultimate goal of humanity is reverse tower of babal.
    >> Anonymous 02/23/10(Tue)12:33:09 No.7629378
I noticed a lot of black guys in my neighborhood are masons. They wear a weird hat at church. Same masons?
    >> Anonymous 02/23/10(Tue)12:33:10 No.7629379
They mostly drink, talk and die of old age.

It's just a secret club for old gay men.

    What is this, sir?

Is it true that you must believe in a god to join?

Lots of old black guys are freemasons. My boss is one.

I think its more of a rural/ small town thing though.

It's for networking - the whole secret club thing is just a pretext for meeting local businessmen in a social environment.

You must state that you believe in a god (can't remember the exact phrasing), but you are never asked which god, or the manner of your belief - I believe in fact it is against the rules to do so. So you could believe that some universal law that ties together the fundamental forces in fact constitutes a god - which it does, in a way, and that would be fine.

A "supreme being" is all they want. So any monotheistic religion is welcome and they make a point to not favor any single religion. Like, they will never even mention the word "Jesus" they call him "the Christian Master".

Yeah the parable of the tower of babal, where God make everyone different and speak different languages. They say that is the source of all strife and evil in the world and they see it as the ulitmate test God gave humanity to overcome.

So yeah it does seem sorta blasphemous to undo what God did, but hey.

    Are they good for connections?

    Are charities mandatory?

    It sounds kid of retarded.

Why would anyone want to join a group like this? Fucking idiots.

    I'm a spic, and a business major.

The networking will do wonders for my career.

What are my chances of getting in?

It's the belief in the Grand Architect of the Universe or something very similar.

Freemasonry in the past has had a lot of secrecy, symbolism, and other shit tied to it. Today, most of that's pretty much gone, except for in like, the very highest circles, most of which people in the general public will never see. It's pretty much just great for networking with local businesses, and otherwise just another social club type thing.

I'm actually fairly interested in getting involved in it myself, though, just for the networking and maybe some inside research into the past history of it. I really wonder if there's a chapter anywhere near me.

I can only speak for Scotland, but here it's pointless to become a Mason if you have no charitable wishes. Every Mason I know pretty much permanently does charity stuff, and indeed you can't get above the third degree (the full spectrum of degrees existing in my local order) without either thoroughly serving the community or contributing notably to the theological and philosophical debate and discussion of the group.
    >> Anonymous 02/23/10(Tue)12:43:50 No.7629462
    >>7629428
Yeah, once your in, you do have a network of people that will help you out. Since someone will know someone who knows a guy that will help you out. Its a good ol' boy network.

Charities are not mandatory, but the monthly dues are.
    >> Anonymous 02/23/10(Tue)12:45:53 No.7629487
    >>7629459
Yeah thats basically all true. Service to the community is one of the primary tenets. If you can't contribute to their charity functions you didn't join the right club.

My dad's a freemason. He never told me what he really does but he says he just hangs out with other freemasons drinking beer and playing poker and shit.

They're a group of richfags all over the world who sometimes decide the fate of huge numbers of people.
Like all rich fags do, for money.

my bro is a mason, got in quite quickly since hes only 24 and part of the navy,
went straight from a uni navy unit midshipman(lowest rank) to a Lieutenant Commander(controls a small ship or leader of a department of a large ship) since he got handed some ties to an old Commodore at the club.
doing a damn good job at it too, sometimes i get some stuff in the mail for him, real expensive stuff. people trying to buy some friendly room with him. hes got connections now. fucking awesome.

Shriners have the funny hat. It's a good group to join, but you do have to be a mason first. I'm not a Shriner, but my dad is. The truck I drive was his and he had a shriners logo on the tailgate, that bitch has gotten me out of a few tickets. They've got a lot of respect due to all the charitable work they do for children.

    tl;dr
Join the Masons, join the Shriners, gain connections and respect. Also, they throw great cook outs. Kegs all around.
