Fucking social networking. It got loads and loads of more faggots on computers and made them regular internet users. Facebook and Myspace are two big things to blame when you look at /b/ and ask, "What happened?"

ITT: post if you were a regular internet lurker before you had a MySpace or FaceBook.

I agree with you. I was actually thinking the same thing just a few days ago. The internet was a better place before social networking.

    >wasnt it inevitable?
Facebook and Myspace didn't have to happen but they did. (I know there were other sites before MySpace, but who cares about them.)

    >were they just supposed to ignore the internet?
I hate to say it, but rules 1 & 2 shouldn't have been broken. 4chan took 5 years to get 100 million posts, and now only a year and a half later there are 200 million posts, with half of those being "post ending in" threads. They didn't have to ignore this shit, just respect it a bit more.

    >just dont go were they go...
Fuck you. I feel like something great was taken from me.

No, they took our world and tried to force their way into it.
They were successful in some small part, but do not affect us directly. At our whim, if we whimmed in concert, they'd be banished from the land of the inturrnuts.

No they won't. Go to /b/. Welcome to the new /b. It isn't going to get better because that /b/ is now considered the regular /b/. "Remember when /b/ was good?" That phrase was turned into a meme ironically by the people who don't know what they are talking about. That phrase holds sentiment meaning. /b/ was good. You can't say without lying that making a large portion of the SA community to be themselves except under the protection of anonymity wouldn't be hilarious.

The old album trick doesn't work but there are some new tricks. Lurk some irc channels or something.
Anyway just create an account and join all the networks people you want to stalk are in (you need to know what network at least one of them is in and you can work from there) and check their walls, most don't disable access to them. From there you can follow links to complete albums, discussions, parties, pretty much everything, as long as it's linked on their wall.
There's more complicated stuff but I can't be botehred.

Contrary to popular belief, /b/ actually used to be good. I joined around 7 million GET, and from there, it was gold up until... 15-ish. Note that back in these days, it could be a month between GETs. Past 15 million or so, things started rapidly going downhill, and I finally just gave up on /b/ around 30 million.

Yeeeeah. Half its problem nowadays is the speed it flows at. Even if somebody does put out something good, unless it can be digested and responded to in 30 seconds, it'll just get pushed off page 10 almost instantly.
    >> Anonymous of College Park,MD 02/21/10(Sun)13:59:08 No.7603139
Before I heard of myspace or facebook I went to the various internet message forums related to video games. The only time I got a myspace and facebook was during my freshman year of college.

But even then with myspace and facebook I don't even update it that much. The sad truth is that social networking in those two websites take work. You have to constantly at least one of day select a few people from your large list of friends to see what they're doing. While both myspace and facebook has discussion group forums, you have to actually go there to see if they have any new information or forum topics. There is no option for a daily update of your groups via email so you will not have to waste time.

Another thing is that how good is social networking is you have no real friends.

Yeah, moot is right, myspace and facebook do suck.
