    Have some soap.

    I'd rather Brad Pitt.

Fattie soap is the best soap.

We should process neckbeard fat into soap, and then wash them with their own lard.

I just figured that 90% of the questions/issues robots seem to have are actually mostly already addressed in this film. And perhaps it's time to remind them that there is a brief 2 hour seminar on how to think about things.

To be honest - the movie is better than the book version.

    Is it?

I've never read the book and never will if you tell me the movie is better.

Here, have some brad pitt torso.

Well, they're both good. And both should be read, but I think the movie was crisper - more direct, it didnt over-inflate its scope.

Basically, it's a tighter more poignant piece, but you get less over all consequentially. Do read the book.

As for the rest of neckbeardopia - they should all watch this movie again, and resist the urge to think "OMG BADASS" and actually listen to the philosophies contained therein.

i hate how people after watching fight club suddenly want to overthrow capitalism and destroy everything and start up fight clubs

the director and cast (and anyone who paid attention) know that tyler durden's philosophy should be distinguished from the philosophy of the film. He is mental, ultimately and not good

    >>7547799
Right! People think it's about being badass. The thing is, Durden's methodologies are actually incredibly suspect - but his vision is actually rather profound.

It's not about getting into fights to be "tough" it's about understanding that identity is not created through the numerous influences society tells us it is.

Basically - the WHOLE movie is about identity. And while Durden has a lot of very good points, he's not immune from the blindness he talks about.

Technology changes faster than my will to keep up with it. I know of streaming, and have watched things online with others before, but my particular desire is to SCOLD people.

This is not a healthy desire - I admit. And onlineness doesnt allow for very good scolding.

    move>book

    even the author said so.

the problem with fight club is not that it's psuedo-intellectual clap trap.

it's actually a very poignant, thoughtful, awesome movie that has a lot to say about the modern male, society and what to do.

the problem is NO ONE PAYS ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT THE WHOLE POINT OF THE MOVIE IS TYLER IS BATSHIT INSANE AT THE END OF IT AND TOTALLY WRONG.

you shouldn't try to be tyler, you should try to be the narrator. maybe a little dash of tyler like he is at the very beginning of the movie before he loses his shit.
    >> Qes !OZqrVI/9AU 02/17/10(Wed)14:42:46 No.7547858
    >>7547851
You said it better than i did - but I do think that tylers points are valid - if not his methods.

And without that batshit insanity - the narrator would have learned NOTHING.

But yes, as far as emulation - it's the narrator, not durden that should be emulated.

    Hm, let me rephrase.

4channers who bitch and moan about life, and would take the time to listen to anything new and challenging, would benefit from seeing this movie if they've not, or had forgotten it's message.

Less succinct, but more specific and accurate, i hope.

It's not about improving your life, as though there is some sort of external scale you can judge it by - if you thought that the movie was about doing X to get Y, I think you missed it's point.
It's about identity and perspective, not about achieving goals.

You faggots need to read palahniuk. He uses this insightful rebellious nature in all his god damn books. That's why you people eat it up like it was world of warcraft, because you like the philosophy that knowing more makes you more dangerous. As if realizing that playing a specific tone will make payphones give you change makes you some kind of anarchist monk that corrects the system through exploiting it until it causes revolution.

Any change to your personal life based off of the movie fight club is the equivalent of studying the quidditch games from harry potter, and trying to apply it to a sport you play. You act like this is a scientific case study displaying psychological traits, instead of a fictitious social commentary.

Actually, i think it is a great social commentary because of it's insights into the psyche of the disaffected male.

Exposure to ideas that challenge us is a good thing, It is in my opinion that r9k seems to lack much in the ways of exposure to truly difficult perspectival dynamics. "Blah blahese" for - people dont like changing their point of view or considering new ones.

Fight club could function as *one* avenue (among many) to that end. Or, are you suggesting that exposure is always useless, no one learns from anything, ever, and there is never a point to doing anything ever, or listening, watching anything ever?

Because while that might be an interesting argument - it's a different argument than the one I was discussing.
