14 KB List of good stuff brent 02/03/10(Wed)11:20:28 No.7365662
Hey bros, I made this list of good stuff to read sometimes and remind myself of what's important. I stole some from a song some guy posted the other day, and some I just know off of the top of my head. Anyone have any contributions?

    >Life is too short
    >Do not remain angry
    >Forgive quickly
    >Be patient
    >Regrets are mere by-products of lessons
    >Regret nothing after realizing this
    >Do not make the same mistakes repeatedly
    >Love her incessantly
    >Choose wisely whose advice you buy
    >But be patient with those who give it
    >Floss
    >Think for yourself
    >Sleep appropriately
    >Do not worry incessantly
    >Do one thing every day that scares you
    >Do not waste your time on jealousy
    >The race is only with yourself
    >Materials are illusory; ultimately meaningless

    >Love her incessantly

This is the only one I have a problem with.

I like material things very much! If I had no material posessions other than the things I need to survive, I would be most unhappy. I'm not a guru who can internally amuse himself eternally, nor am I fond of sleeping outside on the ground. I love posessions.

I guess I agree, but the point is to acknowledge that they're meaningless relative to whatever you personally consider to have greater meaning :). Obviously I don't believe it so vehemently that I'm going to give away everything I own and become a monk or something, but what I do mean is that they're not the focus of my life and hold no weight against something like a relationship or whatever spiritual beliefs you might have.

    >> brent 02/03/10(Wed)11:33:23 No.7365740
Just realized, I'll move this to /adv/

Yeah, I took four of them I think, even the "Floss" one since I thought it was humorous.

    Good positive thread.

Focus wholly what your doing in the moment and try to comprehend it fully.

No; they are the by-product... you can cut out a regret and still learn a lesson, like you can cut out toxic waste and still have a functioning factory or whatever. You can't do it the other way around though
    >> Anonymous 02/03/10(Wed)11:48:54 No.7365854

Yeah, he definitely needs to change that to something like "Let them go after you've learned your lesson".

I think you guys are getting it backward, or something. I meant:

Regret -> regrets are by-product of lesson (not the lesson itself) -> release from regret, fully understand lesson

    >>7365875
Get fat -> fat is byproduct of chocolate (not the chocolate itself) -> get liposuction, fully enjoy chocolate

That's one of the most contradictory bullshit I've ever read.
Also, have fun in your imiginary world, bro.

I guess I just got trolled, damn.

You didn't get troIled; why is it contradictory?
    >> Anonymous 02/03/10(Wed)12:20:22 No.7366085
The meaning of life lies in small satisfactory actions; pushing thumbtacks into cardboard, peeling a sticker off a cd case without ripping any sticker or leaving a mark, running a matchstick thru a lit candle and observe as the wax flows thru satisfyingly.
