don't fool yourself, people NEED someone, something, to hate. there can't be a good guy without a bad guy, it's somehow ingrained in our minds. for most of the world, america fills that role.

even if, in reality america has almost no impact on their day to day lives, they will still harbor negative feelings for it, and blame it for all of their problems, because without something, or someone, to point the finger at, they would have to accept that all of their failings are in fact, the faults of themselves. and most people simply cannot accept this.

Everything that America is is pretty shallow, anyway. I mean, you only have 500 years of history to fall back on, and 300 of those you were under our power anyway.

America is a big influence on the world today, but don't flatter yourself. You're not squashing anyone's national identities in Europe - 500 years ago you were all Eurfags yourself anyways. It's only the African/Arab/Eastern nations that get butthurt over being Americanised. Eurofags honestly don't care.

There's really no reason to believe that. There are basically three ways that an established nation can collapse, and that's military conquest, financial disaster, and civil war.
1 - America's military is unbroken and withdrawing most forces from the Middle East. Russia appears to have no appetite for a direct conflict, and the other major powers are wildly outgunned by the US military.
2 - Despite the shrieking about the US deficit, it's completely unremarkable in historical terms. Major economies like 20th century Germany quickly and easily recovered from debts around 1000% of GDP, and the US is nowhere near there. Besides, deflated American consumer confidence means there's very little risk of inflation at the moment, and the Fed will scale back as soon as this appears to change.
3 - Don't listen to /k/: America's not going to rise up with arms. There's no violent ethnic, regional, or religious conflict brewing among Americans. The amount of Americans preparing for or contemplating violent rebellion is statistically zero.

OP's analysis (such as it is) is also applicable to america's foreign policy the world over. totally explains how the american public live in an isolated bubble of internal opinion.
