That depends who is in charge.

If it's still white people, we'll live in a technological utopia.

If it's Asians or Indians, we'll live in a savage slumworld where technological innovation is a distant memory and freedom is nonexistent.

Screw all this. In at most 20 years we will have cheap access to hardware powerful enough to emulate human brain activity. I bet in 40/50 years many people will be completely digital with representations of our world with artificial physics models emulating normal physics. There is little hope for us to be part of that, though. You probably could only be born into computers...not transferred into one. Its depressing... you can just imagine all the possibilities of having a world you can control at will.

In 60 years? It's damn near impossible to tell. We could have some some sort of miraculous breakthrough technologically that means we all live in a Jetsons style techno-utopia. We could have no significant advancement whatsoever and be living in a world not tremendously unlike the one of today. We could have one or more of a number of potential catastrophic events that leave us all eating shit to survive. You could even have a combination of some things there, with some areas/populations left in the dust and others continuing normally or living in their utopian bubble.

In short, who the fuck knows?

Christians will have finally gotten fed up with technology being used to play God and people trying to spread acceptance of other faiths.

Influential Christians will have taken arms all around the world to take atheists, agnostics, and all non-Christians out of influential positions and to close down Universities and other institutions of science.

Technology will roll back slightly, but the world will once again be ruled by good God fearing Christians, all drugs will be illegal, unpure music and movies will be censored, and premarital sex will be unheard of.

I don't believe smarter than human machines will be that great an advancement, in fact, it's more likely that the benefit will be almost purely mathematical.

in 60 years soaring energy costs has severely restricted the growth of technology and transportation. the increased cost of transportation means food is more expensive in cities so urban populations, especially in western countries, start to decline. more and more shipping is done by rail and ship as trucks become too expensive. even the conservatives agree we have to find new energy sources, although they think nuclear is the best option because fuck nature. emerging economies have their growth stunted by energy costs, and any country that isn't "developed" by this time never will be.

    shit like that.

    I'm pretty pessimistic, my guesses:

-The US will steadily fall under authoritarian control. The new aristocracy will be the elites of the corporate and government world.
-The internet and media will be heavily regulated by all countries, as well as corporations thank to the demise of net neutrality.
-China will start aggressively expanding into its neighbours, most likely Taiwan, Japan and South Korea, though perhaps also parts of India. The US, heavily indebted and reliant on Chinese manufacturers will wimp out.
-Russia will probably reconquer the old territories of the USSR. The EU will broker a peace treaty to that effect, and NATO will disband rather than risk confrontation.
-Ecosystem collapse will probably start to happen in 50 or so years, as fish populations die off and carbon accumulates. Mass starvation worldwide.
-Africa will still be a shithole.

It's completely unrealistic, I agree. There's no way those people would have anything resembling a national government, or even a corporate economy. Long before that level of stupidity is reached you'd have a complete collapse of the societal elements that are pushing it that way. I just needed a graphic, and that movie was pretty pessimistic.

China will never attempt to expand (with regard to territory) beyond what it considers to historically belong to it. (Present borders inlcuding Tibet, plus Taiwan, perhaps Mongolia, and whatever territories it has disputed with India and other neighbors). It has historically considered cultures and regions outside of this sphere to be inferior and/or decadent.

I don't necessarily mean just territory, but considering a culture inferior was never a reason to avoid expansion, as the Soviet Union so violently demonstrated. Anyway, expansion can be done by coercion as well as force. China will yield enough economic pressure to get basically anything out of anyone. Vassal states would be perfectly acceptable, providing 'buffer' security and necessary resources.

It's already happening to a degree in parts of Africa, where the Chinese are investing heavily in regimes marked untouchable by the west. And rhetoric from the state towards Taiwan hasn't changed in the last two decades.
