Some questions for the fembots out there: Do (or can) you cook? If so, how often. Do you enjoy it? Is a guy who can cook a turn-on?

I dunno about other guys out there, but if I were to get married, Grandma Tier cooking would be a must.
    >> Edward Cullen 01/29/10(Fri)22:01:49 No.7317038
Not a turn-on in the vein of 'OMG YOU CAN COOK FOR ME' but in the vein of 'OMG YOU CAN ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING FOR YOURSELF'.

    >Grandma Tier cooking
I'd hate having to hear 'oh it's not as good as mom's/grandma's' because obviously I will never be.

No, I cannot cook. I can make easy mac and make PB&J, but that's it. Then again, I've never needed to. Next year I'm getting a real apartment so I will learn to cook. Probably, my roommates love to cook, though, so I might leave it all to them, but I'll probably at least learn to make pasta.
    >> Anonymous 01/29/10(Fri)22:09:43 No.7317097
I'm not wonderful at cooking, though not completely terrible - don't really enjoy doing it particularly, but cooking something nice for someone is alright, and baking with someone is nice too.
Good cooking is probably a bit of a turn-on, or at least a good thing- at least, lack of any sense about food (no cooking skill and terrible taste too) is distinctly not desireable.
    >> Anonymous 01/29/10(Fri)22:11:45 No.7317117
I'm not really into the whole partner thing, but I really need a chef, my cooking's terrible even at its best. And I've done it for years.

I cook all the time, and love it.
Fuck microwaved rice - you can wait the 10 minutes it takes to steam properly.

A guy who can cook? I'm pretty indifferent, really. Although I suppose would be quite nice. :3

I can follow recipes for cooking dishes and I can bake pretty well. My boyfriend enjoys cooking but I plan on doing most of the cooking if/when we get married.

I enjoy cooking and would like to broaden my range of recipes, but I love baking. Sadly I'm never sure what to make because I don't eat much myself let alone my own baking so I depend on others to tell me if the recipe was good or not.
    >> Anonymous 01/29/10(Fri)22:23:37 No.7317235
I'm a really good cook, but I can't bake to save my life.

I don't really follow recipes except to get a general idea
for times and basic ingredients for things I've never made
before. Typically, everything turns out well, though I've
had the occasional mishap with too much or too little
of an ingredient. As was already mentioned, someone
comparing my cooking to their mom's or grandma's is
not OK because I take a lot of pride in the stuff I
prepare. Not to mention, I don't cook fried chicken
and meatloaf. I cook more ethnic and fusion dishes,
so it's not really stuff you would compare.

I like a guy who knows a bit of cooking, mostly because
I love cooking with a boyfriend. It's fun to make dinner
together, even though I'd most likely take over for the
    most part.

I haven't met a woman born after 1990 who can cook worth a damn. I can cook pretty decently and I enjoy being in the kitchen but a girl who isn't at the same level of culinary skill as I am is just a fucking turn off. Good cooking skills is a big sign of independence, if you can't cook for yourself or are satisfied eating Ramen all the time, go fuck yourself.

Since when is an 18 year old or under a "woman" and required to cook as such? At that age, she can probably cook as well as her mother at best -- wait until she has a chance to move out and develop some skills.

I love to cook! I actually do it all the time, both at home and as a part time job, and I find it to be quite enjoyable.

Guys who cook are hot. It shows that they are independent, creative, willing to do some work in order to get a good result, care about their health etc. I am not at all attracted to the idea of having to completely take care of a person I marry.

I love to cook and bake and I always surprise my boyfriend and friends with home baked food/cakes/cookies or whatever.
    >> Anonymous 01/29/10(Fri)22:44:36 No.7317405
I'm a good cook with a decent culinary range and a few really killer recipes. First time my boyfriend tried my steak, he joked about asking me to marry him. Felt awesome for about two months. He's a pretty good cook, too, when he does it, which makes me very happy.

The discrepancy in our cooking skills has come back to bite me in the ass now that we live together. He expects me to cook every night ("So, Anon, what's for dinner?"), even though I work many, many more hours a week than he does. Shit is so not cash. It's starting to make me hate cooking, when I used to love it.

Hispanic dude here. Was raised by my mother and grandmother so I can cook pretty good. I always laugh when my roommates gf puts her facebook status as " Cooking for my baby! <3 ".
I've known them for about 3 years. All I've seen her " cook " is hamburger helper.

Guy here, better chef than anyone I know, except my grandma. Fucking grandmas, it ain't fair...they have too much experience on me.

And no this has never helped me get a woman. They want to eat at expensive restaurants and show off their clothes. No matter how incredible I make a home cooked meal it's never "like going to a real restaurant" apparently.

    >> Anonymous 01/29/10(Fri)22:57:43 No.7317506
I try to hook when I can, since I live in a dorm. Refuse to eat the fast food that's all that's offered by my meal plan. Only thing is, the only kitchen is on the first floor and my dorm room on the 4th, so I have to carry EVERYTHING to get there. I also have little space to store most things I need for cooking.

Fixing this by getting an apartment sometime this summer. Thing is, can anyone suggest what kinds of things I should learn to make in particular? Since right now, storage is an issue, currently all I've been making is:

Bacon, Toast, Eggs (about all types), Omelletes (usually with bread crumbs, cheese, and bacon or ham mixed in), French Toast, Pancakes, and one instance of breaded fried chicken (difficult, because I had no good knives to actually cut the breast with, so I had to literally do it by hand). All using a skillet.

Pretty breakfast heavy, so I need to figure out some sort of lunch and dinner.

    biches be retarted, yo.

A well done home-cooked meal can be as good as the best restaurant food.

But it isn't quality that matters, it's how much money you spend. Fuck it all.

    - Yes. I can also bake like a motherfucker.
    - When I'm not busy or not eating alone, I cook "real" food. When I'm busy or eating alone, I either cook simple stuff or heat something up.
    - Yes, but I like baking much better.
    - As long as his idea of cooking isn't cereal and toast. Pasta is not that hard, men. Boil some water, throw in some spaghetti noodles, buy some Ragu sauce and you'll have girls eating out of your hand.

If my boyfriend wanted to stay in and cook me a nice meal,
I would more than happily take that over going out. I'd even
dress up for him / the meal because really, who would
I be dressing up for when going out other than him?

Going out and dressing up together is nice, but it's so
much more thoughtful when someone cooks a nice meal
    for you.

I can cook pretty well. I cook everyday pretty much. I like it most of the time, and I don't mind cooking for other people even if I'm not hungry. About half of the guys I've dated have been pretty good cooks too. It's fun to cook together and to be able to talk about different types of food, but it's not a must. The only thing I can't stand is a guy who only eats stuff like boxed mac and cheese and Hamburger Helper. I've been with a couple guys like that and it's terrible. So even if a guy's a shitty cook, he has to have some interest in decent food at least.

-I love baking. Nothing better than homemade cookies!
