Its not actually, far from it. Almost every country has its own sign language, and a bunch of different dialects based on location or age. Like in ASL, the way I would sign "Chinese" is vastly different (and wayyy less offensive) than the way a 75 year old would. But yeah to answer your question we're allowed licenses. Hearing is actually a pretty unimportant sense for driving. People will always say sirens/horns/whatever, but really, deaf people arent the only ones that dont hear that. Plus, sirens have a visual element too which I think we probably pay more attention to, and then horns sometimes I can hear anyway, at least if the car is close enough for it to matter lol.

Usually the Deaf Community is split really solidly between specific things and there is a lot of in-fighting which I dislike and its why I never post on Deaf websites or anything, dont see the point lol. But yeah, block voting happens, just because of a hivemind mentality. The "big issue" in Deaf Culture for the last like 30 years has been cochlear implants, with some people outright hating the surgery and people who get it, especially hearing parents who get the surgery for their child, because they think its destroying Deaf Culture. And it's an understandable argument I guess, but a very selfish one at the same time.

Personally I think the idea of most * communities to be pretty dumb, like...the reason the Deaf Community exists is because we have different communication needs, and I like that part of it but I think some people go too far and go from "Im proud of my deafness" to "I'm entitled because I'm Deaf."
