With what money? They live off of 2$ a week. With the dictators sponsored by the cold-war era US, embargoes by dozens of countries for nearly a century, and the reparations france force Haiti to pay them. They have nothing, nay, we have nothing. Its not the incompetence of the people but the corruption of the government. They had a 40% food deficit in Haiti, and with 12 earthquakes hitting the place, you know damn well its way worse.

That's why I won't give them my money.

I didn't donate because I don't have white guilt. People have told me "it's not their fault they were born into crippling poverty and had this happen to them!". Well, it's not my fault I was born into a middle-class white American family either.

Meh. My country has plenty of hurt, starving, and struggling individuals that could use help just as much. I've never taken the initiative to take care of them, and they would certainly be higher on my list of priorities than Haitians.

They aren't a member of my species, that's why.

Because in the end, nothing changes. The country will still have a 80% poverty rate, and most of the redevelopment support will go straight to the country's economic elite.

If you're going to give money to anyone, why don't you give it to people in your family or your own community who actually need it.
