I know a few people who do visit 4chan and a few more who know what it is and have visited but don't do so regularly. I feel bad for finding it first and telling all those mentioned about it.

An awful lot of the people in my college are chantards. I'm majoring in computer science, so go figure.

Some of them outright browse 4chan just while in the library or outside of class, and talk about it like it's just a normal thing, so at least they don't have the "LOL SECRET CLUB" thing going on.

A number of other people in my class seem to fit the "stereotypical 4chan" bill as far as looks and personality, and they are internet savvy, but they never make any mention of it so I can't say for sure.

I'm sort of like this too. I dont see 4chan as a secret club, but I don't discuss it or spout memes in company. I learnt that the hard way on two occasions: when a girl I was seeing lost all interest in me because I would drop memes into our conversations to amuse myself without realising she was familiar with the chans, and when I tried to explain that 12 year old girls *could* be attractive (that doesn't go down well with normalfag friends, and I didn't even mention 8 year olds or lolicon).

These days I find memes are best communicated subtlely between channers without open discussion or acknowledgement. It's not because it's a secret club, it's simply to prevent acting like anime club over9000 newfags.

That, and admitting you lurk 4chan 12 hours a day is like admitting you enjoy gore, cp, scat, rape and all the rest. I just keep quiet.

This sickens me more than anything. I keep my 4chan usage on the DL. I don't talk about it IRL, I never mention it, but if someone brings it up or asks I won't try and hide it, I just don't ever turn the conversation in that direction. I always get the feeling that everyone goes here and no one talks about it. A whole floor of a dorm is playing "The Game" right now.
