I read an article in Popular Mechanics that was about the top 10 up and coming teenagers or something. I think only 2 of them were not homeschooled. The ones that were homeschooled already had multiple patents in their names, and were also enrolled in top universities / colleges at like age 16. OP is a fag.

I work at a children care center and we received two kids that had some genetic disorder where they couldn't eat anything with glutton in it or something like that, it made their hair fall out, so they pretty much had bald spots everywhere. They were maybe 6 and 8 years old. They were so freaked when they saw sooo many kids since theyve been home schooled their lives. It took them a week before wanting to play with any other kids. The younger one wouldn't go anywhere without the older brother. However, they adjusted and had loads of fun even though they had come overs. If someone were to be homeschools from the start, they would be fucked for life unless they had some social interactions.

I was home schooled from 3rd grade on. Not for religious reasons. After a while in school I stopped being able to put my mind to schoolwork and the teachers didn't know what to do other than lock me in a back room all day long. I nearly cracked after that--things were getting bad.

Parents pulled me out and I regained my sanity after a while. It was unfortunate that we couldn't find any homeschool support groups other than bible-thumpers, but it worked out well enough. I think if done properly, home schooling can be a good thing for kids who genuinely need it.

One thing I should mention: A lot of these posts are absolutely right about the social stuff. Without a reason to go out with other kids it's easy for a kid to isolate himself. That was me. I was able to break out of the antisocial mindset in time, but catching up on ~10 years of experience is hard work. Especially with women.

Meh, I was homeschooled and I'm doing well. During high school they got the school to agree to let me attend for math and elective courses. So between 8-10 every day I had normal classes like everyone else then I would go home and do my other subjects till about 3ish. I met lots of friends and we'd hang out every day. I think I got the best of both worlds.

I did home schooling. I finished my entire GED almost exactly in the same amount of time as a regular highschooler, but I only did school for 2 hours a day. Until about 2:30 I worked on learning photoshop, illustrator, flash and indesign. So I skipped college, now I work in graphic design.

I was homeschooled through middle school and part of high school. I started community college when I was 16 in their Early Admissions program, transferred to a top 50 school when I was 19, and graduated when I was 21.

Whole process cost me literally zero dollars. My home tutelage consisted of borrowing the syllabi and textbooks from the high school around the corner and taking the regents every year. I got scholarships for all other college.

I was homeschooling because of athletics (I was a competitive skiier), so I had a built in set of friends, potential girlfriends (I've had a few), and a social life.

I think there are good and bad things about it. In some, not all, but some cases the child probably receives better schooling than some sub par public school systems. For example, some very christian parents (crazy fanatics), will mention evolution, but completely deny it and toss it off as a myth, and teach creation and ID as a fact, when that is not what the churches believe, and that is not what is required in schools to be taught. If you are going to be home-schooled, the only difference between public school and home-school should be that you are home, instead of a building surrounded by peers, not what you are taught.

Although I did teach myself for the majority of the 'highschool' years.

I was originally taken out of public schooling because of a selective hearing-process disorder. I just couldn't understand what the teacer was talking about with a room full of screaming children.

I was pretty awkward when I was younger, but i've gotten a lot better. I can even pass a regular human being - Which is more than most of you can say.
The lack of actual interaction with other people my own age gave me time to study their overall interraction.

I had the advantage of my parents doing it because they thought it would be a better education rather than any particular idealogical reason, so it might not be a very fair comparison

The advantages: I had a much better education than most people. My parents aren't christfags, and were at least smart enough to find good textbooks to cover material that they couldn't cover themselves. They also managed to get me to take standardized tests, so it was pretty clear that I was well ahead of kids my age (at least by the testing standards).

On the other hand, the lack of social experience sucked. They tried to balance it out through extracurricular activities, but that failed.
