    Hey guys.

I know this isn't /ck/, but fuck it, I like you guys better.

I thought it might be a nice break from all that relationshit if we all posted our favourite, simple recipes. I know a lot of you guys live alone and do all your own cooking, so we must have a couple of decent meals between us. I know i'm always on the lookout.

I'll start with chicken fried rice, coleslaw and cajun chicken burgers in the next post.

    So hungry. Hungryblox.

Anyways, I just learned how to make noodles from scratch. Shit is so cash once you get a handle of it.

    Chicken Fried Rice.

    Ingredients:
Cooked rice (I use microwavable for convenience. It's hard to get the texture right.).
    Chopped Garlic.
    Cooked Peas.
Cooked chicken breast (or other meat of choice), cut into chunks or strips.
    Spring Onion.
    1 egg per person.
    Olive Oil.

Heat the oil in a wok and add chopped garlic.
Wait until it starts to smoke, then add cooked rice.
    Stir constantly for 1 minute.
Beat egg and add to wok.
Stir constantly for 2 minutes, or until egg is completely cooked.
Add cooked chicken and cooked peas.
    Stir constantly for 1 minute.
    Add chopped spring onions.
    Season and serve.

You can also leave the meat out completely, or add a mixture. I also crumble a stock cube in before the egg. It's bad for you, but gives it more taste.

Not cooking persay, but this makes for an awesome sandwich:

    1) Toasted bread, your choice of style, as long as you toast it
    2) Your meat of choice, I prefer roasted turkey breast
    3) Your cheese of choice
    4) Bacos, real bacon or imitation, doesn't matter
    5) Salsa. That's right, slap that bitch up there. Fuck tomatoes or ketchup
    6) A bit of vinegar, just enough for flavor
    7) A pinch of salt and pepper

Behold the greatest piece of homemade, non-cooked, delicious delicacy that you will ever eat, out of common household ingredients.
    >> Anonymous 01/15/10(Fri)18:16:48 No.7111404
    Coleslaw.

    Ingredients:
    White cabbage, shredded.
    Red cabbage, shredded.
    1 carrot, grated.
Spring onion, chopped (including green part).
    Green pepper, chopped.
    Sweetcorn (tinned works best).
    Chives, chopped.
    Mayo.

Add everything into a bowl and stir in mayo to taste. Mix it all together, season and serve. It works more like a salad, so go easy on the mayo.

    Cajun Chicken Burger.

    Ingredients:
    1 chicken breast.
    Cajun seasoning.
    Paprika.
    Bread of choice.

Roll the chicken breast in a mixture of Cajun seasoning, with a couple of sprinkles of paprika, salt and pepper, until it's completely coated.
Put a pan on the heat and wait until hot. Add the chicken with no oil and cook, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through.
Stick between bread (fresh baked is awesome) and serve.

I am Australian and what are bacos?

    I'll assume they're bacon cubes.

    Okay, my favourite seven-minute-dinner;

    1) Pasta.
    2) Bacon. Or ham. Something tasty and meat-flavoured.
    3) Capers/caperberries. (Bear with me here, I like capers.)
    4) Olives (preferably kalamata)
    5) Rocket, or whatever you Americans call it. The spicy kind of salad leaf.
    6) Pepper.

Put pasta on to boil, and diced up bacon on to cook. Drain capers, cut olives into a manageable bite-size form. Once the pasta's finished, drain that shit (not too much, still want some water left) and throw everything in together, adding a significant amount of pepper.

    Tastes salty and delicious. :3

OP here. I have one more I forgot about.

    Satay Chicken.

    Ingredients:
Chicken breast, cut into medium chunks.
2 tablespoons of peanut butter (Try and get the stuff with the sloppier consistency. If it's dry, it won't work as well).
    50ml of soy sauce.

    Optional:
Hot pepper sauce to taste. I like it, gives it a kick.

Mix the peanut butter and soy sauce together. Add pepper sauce if using. Stir together until the consistancy is smooth and even.
Roll chicken in satay sauce until all the chunks are coated.
String onto kebab skewer if possible. If using wood skewers, leave to soak in cold water for 30 mins beforehand. If they aren't available, just put the chicken straight onto the baking tray. It won't work as well though.
Grill on a medium heat until the chicken is cooked through.
    Serve.

Basically yeah, just tiny chunks of dried bacon. You can get ones made of real bacon, but obviously it's like sprinkling bits heartattack on your food, because it's all so concentrated together. So artificial bacon is rather popular as well, a bit high in sodium, but otherwise not bad for you.

The actual term is "bacon bits" here, Bacos is just a brand name.

My favourite (and standard) luchtime meal.

    Ingredients:
    4 eggs
    cheese

    Recipe:
put the eggs and cheese in a microwavable container and cook for 1 minute, stir, cook for another minute, stir, cook for another minute.

Tastes delicious, apple juice to drink goes well with it.

OP here, I have one more, and it's the easiest by far.

    Naan bread pizza.

    Ingredients:
Naan bread (Plain usually, but any flavour is fine).
    Tomato puree.
    Garlic paste.
Cheese (I mix Cheddar and mozzarella, but whichever you prefer).
Any other toppings you want. Stuff like mushrooms, bacon, ham, chicken, pepperoni, sweetcorn. Whatever.

Spread the naan with garlic paste and tomato puree. Or just tomato puree, if you prefer.
    Add toppings.
Grill for 8 minutes or so.

    Fucking simple and awesome.

    Here's a simple dessert.

    Sugar Pie

2 cups brown sugar (a.k.a. brilliant yellow)
    1 tablespoon butter
    4 tablespoons coffee cream (18 % mf)
    1 tablespoon flour
1 pie crust (homemade or thawed frozen)

Cream the butter into the brown sugar. Add cream, mixing thoroughly. Add flour, mix thoroughly. Pour into pie shell (make sure to prick bottom of crust thoroughly beforehand). Put into preheated oven set to 400 F. Cook 30 minutes. Allow to cool.

End result is like fudge on a crust and is wonderful.

    Roast Veg.

    For one person:
    Half a carrot.
    One medium potato.
    1 small sweet potato.
    1 clove of garlic.
    1 onion.
You can also use turnips, parsnips or any other winter vegetable.
    Olive oil.
    Salt, pepper and chilli flakes.
    Splash of vinegar (optional).

Chop veg into chunks of roughly the same size. Chop garlic.
Add to baking tray, and add salt, pepper and chilli flakes.
Add olive oil and vinegar if using and stir until the veg is coated, but without any oil pooled at the bottom.
Cook in over on high heat, stirring around occasionally, for about 40 minutes, or until veg is cooked through and crispy on the outside.

OP here, just thought of another one.

    Burgers.

    Ingredients:
Mince (any meat is alright, but beef is obviously best).
    Chopped garlic.
    BBQ sauce.
    Hot pepper sauce if required.
    1 egg.

Add the mince, garlic and BBQ sauce. Add pepper sauce if using.
Beat the egg and add it to the mixture with salt and pepper.
Knead with hands until it's smooth, and shape into burgers with your hands.
You can either cook them in the oven, medium heat until cooked to taste (only with beef, obviously cook other meats until done completely), or fry them. I use the oven, because it's not as fatty.
Stick between bread with whatever the fuck you like with your burgers and serve.

Some people like to add finely chopped onions, but I find they make the burgers fall apart, especially when frying. But add them if you want.

    Chicken Noodle Soup.

    Ingredients:
    Chicken breast.
Chicken or vegetable stock (I don't know the exact amount, but you use 2 stock cubes, so however much that is).
    Chopped garlic.
    Egg noodles.
Sweetcorn or mushroom, or both, whatever.
    Spring onion.

Add the stock and garlic to a pan and bring to the boil.
Add the chicken breast (without cutting it up), turn down the heat and leave for about 15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked.
Take the chicken out, and shred it with 2 forks.
Add the shredded chicken to the broth along with the noodles and sweetcorn/mushroom.
Turn the heat up slightly and boil until the noodles are cooked.
Add chopped spring onion and serve.

If I'm cooking for a girl: Spaghetti Carbonara
500g Fresh Spaghetti (I prefer tagliatelle), Parmesan cheese (best quality you can afford), Parma ham, 4 eggs, milk, salt, pepper. (optional-olives)

Sauce mix - 2 whole eggs, 2 egg yolks. Whisk. Add 5 tablespoons of finely rated parmesan. Whisk. Add a LITTLE bit of milk, around a 1/3 of a mug. Keep whisking while you add some pepper.

Bring large saucepan of water to the boil. Add salt and a little bit of olive oil. Add in enough spaghetti for two; around 400g. Simmer gently until al dente (around 6 minutes), drain in colander, leaving a little bit of moisture on the spaghetti. Add sauce mix with spaghetti into pan on medium-high heat, for just long enough to heat the sauce, which should take around 30-40 seconds, stirring a couple of times.

Serve. With helpings of grated pamesan.

Make this well for a girl, and she'll be putty

    Quick Quiche

    3/4 cup flour
    1 cup milk
    1 cup grated cheese
    ham/meat of some form
    onions/shallots
    salt
    small can o corn
    100ml cream
    4 eggs
    butter

Break eggs into bowl, whisk, whisk in flour and milk gradually (you avoid big lumps this way) make sure you whisk it well to get the lumps out. Add the cream and whisk.
Add the meat, chopped onions, cheese, corn (whatever fillings you want, cooed potato and broccoli or leek, bacon, pumpkin, zuchinni, various meats, anything)

Smear some butter around a baking dish and put a teaspoon of flour on there. Spread it around the dish by giving the side a bit of a whack/tap. Tip the mix in. Spread the fillings out and whack it in the oven on 180C for about 45 minutes. Presto!

This quiche is super easy, cheap, versatile and freezes well. Portion it up and defrost for cheap snacks. Perfect starving student recipe because you can put in whatever you have around.

    FUCKING SAN CHOY BAU GUYS

    SAN CHOY BAU

    IT'S ASIAN AND IT'S AWESOME.

Chop an onion. If you cry you have to subtract all manly points. Also, garlic. Add garlic. Everyone motherfucking loves garlic.

1 carrot and 2 sticks of celery or someshit, also diced up.

300-400 grams of pork mince (none of your shitty low tier mince. Make it nice quality.)

2 tablespoons hoi sin sauce. Get it in any supermarket.
    1 tbsp soy.
LETTUCE LEAVES. FUCK YEAH. LETTUCE HAS NEVER TASTED SO AWESOME.

Some rice. Really depends on how much you want.

Stirfry the onion, garlic, carrot and celery until it's nice and tasty smelling. Add the mince, fry that shit up. Add the sauces (may want a little more or a little less, depends on what you feel like.)

When that's all cooked up, throw it into a lettuce leaf, roll it up, and serve with the rice on the side. Tastes fucking great, man. And there'll be leftovers for tomorrow, by which time it tastes EVEN BETTER.
