After reading the Harry Potter books (inb4 potterfag), I'm under the impression that Hufflepuff is the house where all the students who aren't outstanding in any way are "sorted" in this house. Let's break down the characteristics of each house,

    >Gryfindor
    Courage, friendship,and loyalty

    >Slytherin
    Ambition, leadership, and racist fucks

    >Ravenclaw
    Intelligence and Wit

    >Hufflepuff
    Nothing

    tl;dr Hufflepuff sucks
    >> Anonymous 01/13/10(Wed)20:58:26 No.7086295
Fuck all the little kids who all want to be in Gryffindor.

I'd so ask to be put in Slytherin. I'm not ambitious, but I'm racist and generally an irl troll at every chance I get. I mean, how else is an ugly guy like me gonna have fun?

Also green is the best color ever.

I'd be Ravenclaw because I don't work worth shit (no Hufflepuff for me!), am too cowardly to make Gryffindor or Slytherin, and have no redeeming qualities except LOL BOOK LARNIN
    >> Anonymous 01/13/10(Wed)21:00:22 No.7086323
I'd want to be in Ravenclaw so I can mack on Luna all day, but I'm probably not smart enough and would end up in Hufflepuff.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/10(Wed)21:01:30 No.7086343
For all the wizards and witches reading this, if you are in Hufflepuff, you should kill yourselves right now.

Hufflepuff is the stoner house OP. That's why they have no known talents, with the exception of puffing and passing more than anyone else.

Hufflepuff's theme was hard work and toil. Which makes them sound like classist conception of a dumbass blue collar house.

I was always disappointed that Rowling didn't make the houses more rounded. The Gryfindor were always clearly the good guys with the best house and the Slytherin always ended up being evil. Why the hell would you divide and encourage kids based on how evil they are in a school?
    >> Anonymous 01/13/10(Wed)21:10:00 No.7086455
Guys you can't tell what house you will be sorted into by your characteristics. One of the most major themes of the books is that "your choices define who you really are far more than your abilities". You get into whatever house you want to.

Huffflepuff is loyality, Freindship and Kindness.

Its where nice people go although even in the HP universe it is looked down on.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/10(Wed)21:11:02 No.7086475
why can't ambition and courage go together? I think it's pretty gay that you can't be smart, ambitious, and courageous. fuck j.K. Rowling for not making a house i can fit into.

    inb4 massive ego

Reading the books as a younger lad, I always found myself sympathizing with Ravenclaw. I was a lot more focused on classes and grades in High School (to get into a good college), so I think Ravenclaw would have been a good suit for me.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/10(Wed)21:14:08 No.7086527
Hufflepuff is in many ways the everyman of Hogwarts but they really are not bad. They are usually dependable hardworking types, the blue collar of the school if you will. They may not get the fame, glory, or sharp intellect as the others, but if you someone to fix your roof or help you move to a new house or apartment, they are your man
    >> Anonymous 01/13/10(Wed)21:14:27 No.7086537
Is it only me or does anyone else think Hufflepuff is the gayest/lamest name out of all 4 lame ones?
    Ravenclaw is kinda cool
slytherin = slithering ? as in a verb of a snake slithering? Gryfindor = gryphin okay thats kinda cool I guess.
Hufflepuff = sounds like the pokemon Jigglypuff evolved or something what the fuck is this shit
    >> Anonymous 01/13/10(Wed)21:14:28 No.7086538
You get into whichever house you want this is basically directly stated in the books.
It just seems like certain people go into certain houses because they learn about what the houses represent and then the kids thnk oo that house sounds good and get in it hence they're of simlar personality type.

They are even. Hufflepuff is neutral, Gryffindor is made up of Fighters and Warriors, Ravenclaw is mostly opportunists and Philosophers, and Slytherin is mostly selfish rich brats who will end up being underhanded criminals that don't get caught easily. (Such as Draco Malfoy's father.)
