10 KB What does it take? Anonymous 11/05/09(Thu)23:41:34 No.6141373
This morning I got a bill in the mail for $490. It was for the stitches I had received in my left arm over a laceration that occurred at work, and since I wasn't high or anything, it was supposed to be covered by Workman's compensation. However, since I had to fucking hold my muscles in with a rag, I was in no condition to write, and the medical center took my address of my liscense. My liscense is about 5 years old, and the address I live at now (and the one the company I worked for at the time had listed) is different than what it reads on the address.

Apparently that's such a huge fucking deal, my claim was returned and they seem to expect me to pay for it. My foreman actually came out and told me he was letting me go, and I was only on the payroll until the day the sutures got removed, since it would all be covered by Worker's comp.

I just had to go to court on the 27th for a speeding ticket (going 39 mph in a 30 zone, coasting down the slope of a bridge), where I was stuck with a $107 fine, most of which I think was just for showing up.

I could really use some kind of affection, /r9k/. What does it take for a young, somewhat attractive bisexual male to get a damn boyfriend or girlfriend?! Is it that I live in the Buddha forsaken state of virginia!? WHY!?

If your workman's comp didn't cover it, your regular insurance should, and they should go after your employer's workman's comp insurer to get their money back.

I'd show you some attention if you weren't hideous, had bad/annoying habits, etc. :3

    P.S.
    I'm a guy ;)

If you were fired due to being unable to work, because you were injured at work you might want to talk to a lawyer.

I see possible claims for Long Term Disability, violations of FMLA, and other possibly lucrative things to follow up on.

I don't have my camera with me at the moment, but it's about 1 and 3/4 of an inch long on the underside of my left arm. It left a very visible scar, and the flesh was seperated into lines when I looked at it. I received six stitches.

I don't have insurance, I didn't have insurance then, and I haven't had any insurance since I was 18. I don't work for that company anymore, which really pisses me off that they would spring this shit now, months later.

maybe you should stop thinking about getting laid and think about getting a lawyer

you're already getting fucked in the arse by the insurance people and you former employers, how much moar buttsecks do you need (stoopid question - nb4 continual)

you're being deliberately discriminated against here anon, you need someone to take these buggers on - there's a real lack of justice here and you need some

Despite what everyone else seems to think, litigation is not the solution to every problem. It was an accident and I don't look to blame anyone, and I don't think I'm magically entitled to money just because I got hurt.

I wasn't able to use my left arm for the kind of work the company does (stainless steel panels, assembly line work, insulation) because the wound was so severe, but I think I was actually let go because the first day of work I accidentally parked in the company owner's parking spot (they weren't labeled or anything, that was just where he 'liked' to park, right next to the door.

Your post describes a lot of my life. I grew up in northern VA, lived just south of Richmond, and am back in the northern part again. This state is awful and so is everything in it. Please, accept my sincerest condolences. I hope your emancipation from this backward land will be as glorious as mine will be.

IT'S EVEN MORE TERRIFYING TO BE GAY! YOU CAN PASS FOR STRAIGHT AT LEAST! I HOPE I HAVE A HEART ATTACK AND DIE!

If you weren't able to do your job, you should have been put on short/long term disability. There is a reason you get a couple of bucks taken out of every paycheck for those plans.

If they wanted to keep their rates down by firing you instead, they committed a crime.

    >>6141464
Not the first time I've been fucked, but the first time I've felt phased by it.

    I didn't say laid, I said affection.

The only other place I've ever actually lived in for more than a week or two is Missisipi, and Oklahoma, and both the locations there were so fucking backwater, I had to drive two hours to even see another living human. Although other sources do tell me, Virginia is a shitty place to live.

I was in my third week of working for this company when I got hurt, I hadn't passed the probationary period so I hadn't qualified for the benefits the company offers. I hadn't even got my damn uniform jumpsuit yet.
    >>6141507
I didn't say I was gay, I used the word bisexual, which for you slow learners means I find women -and- men attractive. It doesn't mean I play tennis in short shorts and skip through fields of flowers. If that's too complicated for you, just move along, sirs.
    >>6141465
Also it's worth noting this company also employed almost a dozen workers who spoke only spanish, and worked 14 hours a day (they got there same time as me, didn't leave until 4 hours after I did).

    TALK TO A LAWYER.
You were hurt at work on accident. You should not be punished for this. Your medical bills should be paid for. This is how it works.

But you are laying down and letting the system fuck you over on both ends.

    Man up, or shut up.

I only just got the damn letter this morning, and everyone I've talked to about it so far has said "Fight it!"

I didn't like working for them anyway, and I'm only 20 with no credit history or insurance. As much as I'm sure a lawyer thinks he has a case, I'm not taking that route, I just don't want to be stuck with a fucking bill because some asshole doctor thinks stitching a hole in my arm earns him a golden trophy.
