    Dear United States of America,

You have failed. As of next month I will start donating the the U.S. Metric Association so you fuckers will finally get with the program. If America can't do it on it's own foreigners like me will have to do it for you.

America is setting back humanity by not adopting metric and I mean that with complete seriousness. The best example is obviously the Mars Climate Orbiter, an important scientific mission to understand the weather, climate, and water and carbon dioxide budget of Mars. One day using that information we may be able to understand how our weather works better (see: climate change), understand the formation of the solar system better and even work to establish a Martian base to begin colonizing the rest of the solar system. Unfortunately some American assumed the units used were imperial and as such the spacecraft was destroyed just out from its target because of an incorrect calculation. Total cost wasted: $327.6 million. Scientific setback: at least a decade - we now have to wait until MetNet launches in 2011-2019. Thanks America.

"Why do American 15-year-olds rank 15th among nations in math? It's not because they or their teachers are less intelligent than their international peers, but because Americans tend to associate gallons and miles with apple pie and motherhood, and hence are loathe to let go. Customary measurement and its partner in crime, mathematical operations using fractions, are like twin 10-pound handicaps hung from the necks of American students." - Richard Slettvet, a special education teacher in Edmonds School District

It's undeniable that cosmopolitan, urban educated students would be smarter than some hillbilly country bumpkin in the sticks, this contributes to the reason why the United States scored so poorly, not because "amurrikkkanz are dumb lawl"

Probably the same reason why 70% of people in the United States don't believe in evolution. Metric system has NOTHING to do with why the education system in the United States is so fucked up. Despite our education here being so horrible it is kinda ironic that the United States still contributes more to humanity in a day than whatever shit hole country you live in does in 10 years.

The Celsius scale has relatively large units, so they needed a scale with smaller subdivisions. The primary reference point of 32 degrees [the freezing point of water] was derived from the base-64 Rankine scale. 0F is the freezing point of supersaturated water, and the size of the units were made accordingly.

If only the urban parts of the United States were tested I'd bet the score would be a lot higher. Americans as a whole are not dumb, which is what a lot of people think, but I'd never argue that Americans raised in rural areas with rural teachers would score poorly on tests.

You know whats funny is eurofags are actually incorrect ins saying they weigh "kilograms" as it is a unit of mass, not force.

Amerifags are more correct in their statement of weight in "pounds" as it can be used to describe a force.

    What now, cheese suckers?
