You know what sucks about reality?

There are no more fucking adventures left to have.

-There are no more unexplored lands, those mysterious ruins have been turned into tourist destinations
-Rag tag groups of rebels are now terrorists
-All the damsels in distress are digusting, used sex slaves from Cambodia
-Car chases will just get you arrested
-The only final boss in life not killing yourself when you realize your life was a waste while you lay next to your ugly wife who's been cheating on your for the majority of your relationship when she should've been raising your ungrateful kids who never call you anymore unless they need money

    FUUUUUUUUUUUCK

Only if you're bad at it.

    WHY CAN'T I BE PART OF A SIX MAN TEAM THAT EXPLORES THE WORLD AND HAS ADVENTURES WHILE FIGHTING BAD GUYS. ;_;

But seriously... that would be so fun.
    >> Anonymous 08/03/09(Mon)19:05:20 No.4954093
there ARE unexplored lands, most of them are caves, or underwater, or underwater caves.

but thereare still large regions of places like the amazon that have not been fully explored, and they're still digging up shit in Egypt all the time, and didn't they just find a lost sunken city near venice?
    http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/discoveries/2009-08-02-venice-altinum_N.htm

Adventure may be hard to find, but I think it always has been, the movies just make it look easier.

yeah, at least in the past a young man could've died a glorious death at war.
There's nothing in this world for a young man, anymore.
The solution of course is to find a passion, but theres so many passionless drones walking around that its hard to stay excited about anything.
    Also, most people are old

    hello there Mr Jew.
Parkour is being a little shite running over people's cars and such like. Urban exploring is breaking into disused factories and hospitals in the backwaters of Ukraine and so on, and taking pics of all the cool shit left behind.
    the moar u know...

    Fail.
    >-There are no more unexplored lands, those mysterious ruins have been turned into tourist destinations

Bullshit. Just because some faggot explorer has explored them doesn't mean you have. Have you been all around the world personally? No? Well then be quiet please.

    >-Rag tag groups of rebels are now terrorists
"terrorists" are a buzz word created by the media, to the locals they are rebels, or whatever. Turn your stupid TV off.

    >-All the damsels in distress are digusting, used sex slaves from Cambodia

Damsels in distress? When? Where? No such thing bro. Only damsels in distress are the ones that have emotional issues and aren't worth it anyway.

    >-Car chases will just get you arrested
That, or killed. You'll never need to risk your life over some twat chasing/running away from you. Not worth it.

    >-The only final boss in life not killing yourself when you realize your life was a waste while you lay next to your ugly wife who's been cheating on your for the majority of your relationship when she should've been raising your ungrateful kids who never call you anymore unless they need money

You are aware of this now, so prevent that from happening. Link it with point number 1 and explore the world instead.

    Seriously OP, goddamn....

Moving as fast as possible through a certain environment =/= exploring the environment. In fact, any remotely intelligent person might reason that they're the exact fucking opposite of each other.

Parkour is completely different you tool.

Urban exploration is about thoroughly checking out your (urban) surroundings, exploring every nook and cranny of the area, you may find some pretty interesting stuff and meet some pretty interesting people if you put it all under a magnifying glass.

Did I even say parkour? Urban exploring is finding cool old buildings or sealed off areas and exploring them, not jumping around like a 10 year old. Maybe you should leave your parents' basement and try it sometime, you might like it.
    >> Anonymous 08/03/09(Mon)19:14:45 No.4954174
You need to read more cyberpunk. "Anything that can be done to a rat can be done to a human being. And we can do most anything to rats." That is the real adventure.

The real adventure is that you can become something out of Ghost in the Shell for real. It's not technology holding you back, it's politics. You should be working to change that.

That's all there is to that.

On a side note, go join the merchant marine, or go crab fishing in Alaska, or join the French Foreign Legion, or start biking across America, etc etc.

try spending two weeks, anywhere, living on nothing other than what you could fit into a backpack and tell me that you enjoyed that experience before complaining about a lack of mysterious ruins
people back then had to worry about where their next meal would come from, they simply had no time for adventuring unless some wealthy family/monarch was funding their expedition

    What the hell?!

That statement is so invalid I wondering why I'm responding to it.

Are you saying that all the undiscovered parts of the world back 100 years ago, are now spoilt that much that it's not the same any more?!

Well there are some parts of the world that are completely untouched, a little work and it would be possible to check them out.
    >> Anonymous 08/03/09(Mon)19:34:11 No.4954336
You would not be able to do any of those things anyway most probably. Not everyone is an Indiana Jones like figure, you're instead sitting on the internet on 4Chan of all places.

You can however make adventures to suit modern day. Do something completely abnormal. Don't go to the tourist places and go off to a small village in country to see what it's really like. Take a train and not look where it goes then get off wherever. Take a plane journey for the next available flight out of here and see where you end up.

There's still plenty of adventure left in the world, but instead you're probably a fat pathetic loser sitting on 4Chan moaning about something when you could be doing something instead.

yeah... the guy should try it though, everyone should if they desire, its an experience you will never forget. i can remember walking for hours without any water.

its physically, mentally, emotionally as well, draining. its every kind of exhausting but it is fun for a while.

Where would become immersed in the Urban Exploring hobby? I am asking because I live in the capital city of a third world South American country and well, either everything is in use(not like in Europe, where you guys have abandoned soviet factories and shit), or is in some shitty slum where you are likely to get shanked.

I really have wanted to explore all my life, but due to that reason I haven't been able to. Also, time and money is an issue too, supposing I wanted to go farther away from the city.

I used to go mountain/hill climbing with my father, but that was long ago, when he was still alive. I remember when we climbed an unactive volcano that sits in the city. It took us about 5 hours to climb, going at a relaxed pace and about 4 more on the way down. It was awesome, we found scorpions and spiders and shit. On the way down it was really dark, and we didn't have light so we trudged along as we heard all the night critters moving around us, but not being able to see it. This adventure in particular was when I was around 15.

But there is really not much emotion in going all by yourself.
