Yes I am, and I don't hang out in any of those places.

You might catch me at a bookstore, library or coffee shop, but only to get books or coffee, not to hang out.

Your best bet at meeting me would be at a party. I studied philosophy not art, but I do sometimes go to art school parties.

I play/compose/listen to music. I'm a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, harmonica, violin, keys. I paint and appreciate art, though I am by no means an expert. I'm witty enough to make puns and references no-one else gets.
I hang out in my flat, pubs, parks, galleries and clubs. Oh, and uni.

Bookstores. I'm usually in a section that matters. I usually have a bitter look on my face while looking at all the giggly girls running about sitting in a bookstore not looking for books, just finding a place to be stupid. I don't think I'd consider myself "artsy", but I'm somewhat interested in arts. I'm hugely curious about all types of music and a huge sucker for live music. I attend concerts, festivals, go see local bands in bars, etc. Always alone, my friends suck and only listen to "lol whats on the radio". Heck, I'll even go see the symphony one in a while if they're playing something that piques my interest.

Besides that, I also enjoy theater and cinema. I go see a play once in a while. I'm a fan of small film festivals and the like. Also alone for these things. Beginning to see a pattern here?

Besides that, I don't "hang out" anywhere besides home. I go to the library and bookstores, but when I do, I know what I'm looking for, so I'll just get in, grab it and get out as fast as I can.

Next time you go see a concert, look for the only guy who's by himself. Look for the guy who seems to be enjoying the music twice as much as everyone else. I'm the retard that just starts dancing by himself at shows because the music is so good.

I wouldn't consider myself creative though. I think it makes my appreciate works of art that much more... I can't possibly imagine how artists create this stuf, it's amazing. As for witty, that wholely depends of your definition.

And to be perfectly honest (and at the risk of coming across as pompous), yeah, I think I look good. But I'm a 21 year old virgin, never had a girlfriend, etc. So that with a grain of salt.

I'm moderately attractive, creative, AND witty! That's a perfect fuckin' score right there!

I don't hang out anywhere special though. Sometimes the local park on occasion, and I try and hit the concerts that interest me - being a metalhead that can yield pretty slim pickings though, believe it or not. I'm usually just in my house / room though, unless classes are in session; then I hang around campus a lot.

In the creative department, I mostly write a lot about anything, though I've got a ~60k word project I'm kinda sorta working on. I've also started fucking around with a used graphics tablet I found at a garage sale, trying to see if that goes anywhere.

But yeah, if you want a chill dude to just chill with over the web (I'm going to assume we don't live anywhere near each other), just say so!

If there is a nerd/artsy archetype, then I am that.

    Nerdy things:
    - lots of video games, but not as much as some of my other friends. No MMOs. Ever.
    - Know things about computers
    - HATE Macs
    - Bad sense of fashion, but I'm working on it.

Artsy things that no one really knows about me:
    - Fukken LOVE photography
    - artsy/hipster girls are amazing
    - Enjoy comics and animation but sadly I cannot draw. Pretty sure the not drawing thing is what makes me like photography.

You can find me hanging out at random ass places, parties, my friends houses. I don't drink coffee.

Fuck /r9k/, I just realized, I'm a normalfag. Shit, I just come on here when I'm bored and there's nothing else to do, goddamn.

    I. LAYING PLANS

    1. Sun Tzu said: The art of war is of vital importance
    to the State.

    2. It is a matter of life and death, a road either
to safety or to ruin. Hence it is a subject of inquiry
which can on no account be neglected.

    3. The art of war, then, is governed by five constant
factors, to be taken into account in one's deliberations,
when seeking to determine the conditions obtaining in the field.

    4. These are: (1) The Moral Law; (2) Heaven; (3) Earth;
    (4) The Commander; (5) Method and discipline.

5,6. The Moral Law causes the people to be in complete
accord with their ruler, so that they will follow him
regardless of their lives, undismayed by any danger.

    7. Heaven signifies night and day, cold and heat,
    times and seasons.

    8. Earth comprises distances, great and small;
    danger and security; open ground and narrow passes;
the chances of life and death.

    9. The Commander stands for the virtues of wisdom,
    sincerely, benevolence, courage and strictness.

    10. By method and discipline are to be understood
the marshaling of the army in its proper subdivisions,
the graduations of rank among the officers, the maintenance
of roads by which supplies may reach the army, and the
    control of military expenditure.

The muffin man is seated at the table
in the laboratory of the utility muffin Research kitchen.
Reaching for an oversized chrome spoon,
he gathers an Intimate quantity of dried muffin
remnants and brushing his scapular aside,
Procceds to dump these inside of his shirt...
He turns to us and speaks:

    "Some people like cupcakes better.
I for one care less for them!"

    Arrogantly twisting the sterile canvas
snoot of a fully charged icing anointment utensil,
    he 'poot's forths a quarter-ounce green rosette,
    - oh ah yuk, yuk... let's try that again...! -
he 'poots' forth a quarter-ounce green rosette
near the summit of a dense,
but radiant muffin of his own design.
    Later he says:

"Some people... some people like cupcakes
    exclusively, while myself, I say,
there is naught nor ought there be nothing
so exalted on the face of god's grey
Earth as that prince of foods... the muffin!"

    11. These five heads should be familiar to every general:
he who knows them will be victorious; he who knows them
    not will fail.

    12. Therefore, in your deliberations, when seeking
to determine the military conditions, let them be made
the basis of a comparison, in this wise:--

    13. (1) Which of the two sovereigns is imbued
    with the Moral law?
    (2) Which of the two generals has most ability?
    (3) With whom lie the advantages derived from Heaven
    and Earth?
    (4) On which side is discipline most rigorously enforced?
    (5) Which army is stronger?
    (6) On which side are officers and men more highly trained?
    (7) In which army is there the greater constancy
    both in reward and punishment?

    14. By means of these seven considerations I can
    forecast victory or defeat.

    15. The general that hearkens to my counsel and acts
upon it, will conquer: let such a one be retained in command!
The general that hearkens not to my counsel nor acts upon it,
will suffer defeat:--let such a one be dismissed!

And that's the way it should be. Moar Zappa.

Some of you might not agree
Cause you probably likes a lot of misery
But think a while and you will see...
    Broken hearts are for assholes
    Broken hearts are for assholes
    Are you an asshole?
    Broken hearts are for assholes
    Are you an asshole too?
Whatcha gonna do, cause you're an asshole...
Maybe you think you're a lonely guy
Maybe you think you're too tough to cry
So you went to the grape,
Just to give it a try
    And Dagmar
Without a doubt, the ugliest sonofabitch I ever saw in my life
    Was his name...
    One two three four!
The whiskers sticking out from underneath of his
    Pancake make-up
And yet he was a beautiful lady
    Nearly drove you insane
    Lets talk about leather: leatherrrrrr
And so you kissed a little sailor
Tex Abel, starring in the latest Shepperton production:
Who had just blew in from Spain
    Sir Richard pump-a-loaf
You sniffed the reeking buns of angel
The story of a demented bread-boffer
And acted like it was cocaine
Cucumber pud annexed to a fine whole-wheat loaf
You were dazzled by the exciting new costume of Ko-Ko
Then on tuesday night, Caesar's back in town
In a way you can't explain
Facing off in a no-holds-barred tag team grudge match
    With kona.
And so you worked the wall with michael
    Three-hundred-seventy-nine pounds of samoan dynamite
Which gave your back an awful strain
    Volcanic hell
But you came back on sunday for the gong show
    Next thursday, teen towns finest...
But you forgot what I was sayin
Cause you're an asshole, you're an asshole
    That's right
Youre an asshole, you're an asshole
    Yes, yes
Youre an asshole, you're an asshole
    That's right
Youre an asshole, you're an asshole
Now you been to the grape and you been to the chest
And now I think you know what you are: you're an asshole

    19. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable;
when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we

when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

    20. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder,

    21. If he is secure at all points, be prepared for him.
If he is in superior strength, evade him.

    22. If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to

    26. Now the general who wins a battle makes many
calculations in his temple ere the battle is fought.
The general who loses a battle makes but few
calculations beforehand. Thus do many calculations
lead to victory, and few calculations to defeat:
how much more no calculation at all! It is by attention
to this point that I can foresee who is likely to win or lose.

    II. WAGING WAR

    1. Sun Tzu said: In the operations of war,
where there are in the field a thousand swift chariots,
as many heavy chariots, and a hundred thousand
mail-clad soldiers, with provisions enough to carry them
a thousand li, the expenditure at home and at the front,
including entertainment of guests, small items such as
glue and paint, and sums spent on chariots and armor,
will reach the total of a thousand ounces of silver per day.
Such is the cost of raising an army of 100,000 men.

    2. When you engage in actual fighting, if victory
is long in coming, then men's weapons will grow dull and
their ardor will be damped. If you lay siege to a town,
    you will exhaust your strength.
    3. Again, if the campaign is protracted, the resources
of the State will not be equal to the strain.

    4. Now, when your weapons are dulled, your ardor damped,
your strength exhausted and your treasure spent,
other chieftains will spring up to take advantage
of your extremity. Then no man, however wise,
will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.

    5. Thus, though we have heard of stupid haste in war,
cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.

    ("Isn't there something you're forgetting?")
You owe me your life for thinking that I would take this from you!

    (YEAH!)

    6. There is no instance of a country having benefited
    from prolonged warfare.

    7. It is only one who is thoroughly acquainted
with the evils of war that can thoroughly understand
the profitable way of carrying it on.

    8. The skillful soldier does not raise a second levy,
neither are his supply-wagons loaded more than twice.

    9. Bring war material with you from home, but forage
on the enemy. Thus the army will have food enough
    for its needs.

    10. Poverty of the State exchequer causes an army
to be maintained by contributions from a distance.
Contributing to maintain an army at a distance causes
    the people to be impoverished.

    11. On the other hand, the proximity of an army causes
prices to go up; and high prices cause the people's
    substance to be drained away.

    12. When their substance is drained away, the peasantry
will be afflicted by heavy exactions.

13,14. With this loss of substance and exhaustion
of strength, the homes of the people will be stripped bare,
    and three-tenths of their income will be dissipated;
while government expenses for broken chariots, worn-out horses,
breast-plates and helmets, bows and arrows, spears and shields,
protective mantles, draught-oxen and heavy wagons,
will amount to four-tenths of its total revenue.

    15. Hence a wise general makes a point of foraging
on the enemy. One cartload of the enemy's provisions
is equivalent to twenty of one's own, and likewise
a single picul of his provender is equivalent to twenty
    from one's own store.

I TOTALLY HANG OUT IN THE LIBRARY SUCKING COFFEE FROM A MANUSCRIPT OF WAITING FOR GODOT, WAITING FOR SOMEONE WHO DEFINES THEMSELVES BY A SET OF FLIMSY CULTURAL CRITERIA TO COME ALONG AND SET MY FUCKING WORLD ON FIRE

Sweetheart, you don't meet people that way. You meet people by having friends. And the quality of your friends tends to decide the quality of the new people you meet, so work on that.
    >> Anonymous 08/01/09(Sat)00:54:45 No.4926988
If by "creative and artsy" you mean the typical "trendy and cliche" hipster then no, that would not be me. And I would not bother with someone so lazy they had to resort to posting a thread in a virgin cesspool known for it's desperate hipster-manchild complex. It's not surprising how many posts this thread has gotten though it is pathetic. If you have no friends of the opposite sex then it is most likely for a very good reason. And then you have the nerve to act as if you're somehow too good for this board and not a complete loser. You're not special, you're not unique, and you're certainly not worth the trouble of befriending. I will now kindly ask you to leave and never come back, thank you and have a nice day.

trust me i didn't ask to be in the situation i'm in.

and listen to yourself, think about how every phrase that comes out of your mouth reflects an insecurity. you call me a faggot because you're afraid of not being a man. think about how hard you're trying to reject most cultural phenomena, and ask yourself why you're doing it, why it actually makes you feel bad.
take what you can and what you like out of life, and you'll be high.
