The time has come. 4chan is dead. All that this site stood for, all that it could have been, is but a fading memory. The cancer has overrun its host, and we are left with this: The sad, shriveled husk of unmet goals and failed aspirations. We wanted so badly for it to succeed. We longed with all of our being to bask in the light of Win. Alas, we failed.

4chan is dead.

Now is not the time for blame. Truth be told, it is our own fault. We overreached. We believed too strongly in the concept of Anonymous, and exposed it to the outside world. It shrank back from the light; it withered under scrutiny. 4chan has become yet another happy member of Web 2.0, and in so doing has shed the last of its individuality, the last remnant of what made it truly unique.

4chan is dead.

Where do we go from here, /b/rothers? What new board awaits us? Do we sally forth in search of a new home, or do we disperse; to wander the digital wastes until some new host appears? Surely, there are other *chans, but each is but a pitiful doppleganger, a reflection of a shade of some aspect of 4chan.

I know not what the future holds. I know only this: 4chan deserves our mercy. It has been many things to us: Wise Big Brother, Annoying Little Brother, Pedophilic Father. It has supported us as we grew into citizens of the digital world. We cannot in good conscience allow it to slowly shrivel into obsolescence. We must give it a proper burial.

4chan is dead. Who better to be its pallbearers than we, who have walked beside it through its memorable, though brief, life? It is our duty to lay it to rest. Thus I propse one final raid: This Caturday, we shall have one last posting of cats. Then, we shall DDoS 4chan until it is down, and we shall keep it down. We shall ensure that our beloved imageboard must never suffer the ignomity of Web 2.0.
