05/10/09(Sun)11:12:29 No.4146282I've
lived snd travelled extensively in the USA and its really not much
different from Canada. Some different sttitudes of course, and somewhat
different lifestyles due to climate. For instance every Canadian I know
who smokes does so indoors where as I never met one American who smokes
inside a home that they live in. And Canadians are more laid back
about some stuff, for instance I had a political debate last night in
Canada and rather then spouting talking points and vague generalities
and actually being manipulated to the point where we made judgements
against eachother based on our political alignments, we simply had a
discussion, no emotion involved whatsoever. IN fact me a registered
conservative was criticizing my conservative provincial government
because I did not think that they had picked an appropriate time to
discuss re-negotiating various aspects of our provincial relationship
with the oil industry where as my friends who are generally liberal
voters defended the actions of the government as a nesecary evil. Nobody
raised their voice, there was no hostility, the gist of the
conversation was "I see your point but I believe you are overestimating
the merit of Idea:A for reason:X"
In American I didnt know
anybody who I had ever seen have reasonable political debates over
drinks without injecting emotion or simply refusing to participate.
Also we dont boil peanuts here. |
