Remember that tumblr is pretty much babby's first internet outside of Facebook (for most people). They probably also think they're the first person to anthropomorphize websites. Tumblr isn't bad, but like everything else, you have to ignore 98% of it.

I'm really just baffled on why you'd follow a blog that posts this shitty sort of stuff (assuming). Tumblr can be alright if you follow things that apply to your interest rather than a bunch of people you know in real life that post page after page of generic shit pictures.

Meme ownership is a shell game. The problem with places like reddit or tumblr or know your meme and whatever else isn't that they're "stealing the credit," it's that they propagate the idea that there was anything to "steal" in the first place. No part of MEEEEMS should ever have been treated like they were "official."

They're just stupid shit to pass the time with. All are equally irrelevant.

tumblr is entirely based on passing around other people's content and getting your dick sucked for having a sense of humor or taste. the most popular tumblr blogs out there have virtually no original content -- they repost from reddit, 4chan, other blogs, reader submissions, whatever. bottom line: they're wallowing in and eating each other's shit before shitting it out for others to consume, and i'm happy to leave them to it

To be fair there are different kinds of internet fame. On one hand, you've got the content creators who produce the new things that we go all abuzz for. On the other you've got people who act like curators and cull through a lot of streams of content and pick out what they think is the best. And like it or not, a good curator can make a good content producer get more fame.
