Well, it didn't up until recently. Technology is progressing so quickly that it's causing radical lifestyle alterations within single generations.
We simply don't know if growing up surrounded by technology at all times is somehow fucking our kids up because they aren't old enough for us to tell yet.

I still watch movies with friends. The difference is that now, we don't have to spend time driving to the video store, walking around looking for wherever the fuck they hid that one movie we're looking for, paying ~$3 to rent it, and getting back only to find the disc is scratched, or the tape isn't rewound (and then having to rewind it again once we're done).

I remember that time, we valued the experience more because we had money spent on all these shit, and it was kind of a scarce thing. Nowadays you can listen to all music, watch all films, fap to any kind porn etc without paying anything. I don't feel nostalgia for the past.

Yes, i know that feel, still, i'm sure guys in the 80s who grew up watching films in cinema theaters said the same thing about VHS. The content is still the same, how you consume it is secondary, that is my opinion.

lolol, bullshit. Shit's cheaper and more convenient. I can get an HD torrent of a new movie and watch it on my flatscreen TV for free (with friends!!!!). Could you do that 15 years ago? Quality of life is better than ever and will continue to improve

    >Making OC in 2006
Opening up photoshop, chopping something out and putting it somewhere new and hopefully surprising at varying degrees of skill and cleverness, with no particular format other than how you individually liked doing things

    >Making "OC" in 2011
Using in-browser tools, take a pre-determined set of images and use them to make a comic or to put impact text on an image, usually an advice dog spinoff. It only counts as a "meme" if it looks exactly like everything else.

    >listening to music
Best of both worlds now, faggot. Now, if I want to try something new, it's free and easy to discover shit you never would have found back then. (Unless you had cool as friends.) I can listen to all of my music while I'm fucking around the computer and have an awesome shuffle.
If I seriously want to listen to some music, there's nothing stopping me from putting it on the big speakers and have a pants-shittingly awesome listen.

    >Watching movies
Again, best of both worlds. I used to have a small mom'pop place around me that stocked weird movies and shit that little kid me loved, but then they closed and I was stuck with Blockbuster's selection. Now, I have Netflix and I'm back to being that kid again. The fact that I can watch damn near anything at a moment is fantastic.
And there's nothing stopping you from watching shit with friends.

    >Contacting friends
Yeah, it must suck to have more options of contacting people. If you want to go knock on doors, knock on doors. If you don't want to be contacted, turn off your shit and don't answer your doors.

    >News
It really does suck having multiple news sources so you can check and balance biases, woe is me. Up to date information is also terrible, fuck this gay earth.

    >Making music
Tell it to local garage/punk/basement/nigger bands

    >Masturbating
    You jelly, simple as that.
And, fuck you, because you lived when you didn't know any better. I didn't get rid of dial-up until I was Jr. in high school. I knew awesome free porn was out there at the touch of your fingertips, and I was stuck with galleries like YOBT, hard R's and NC-17s (Until the Blockbusters took over), education texts, and that one night where I saw porn on HBO when the cable fucked up.

No, the point of movies was to watch the fucking movie. (And get out of it what you will.)
I always hated going to a movie and seeing someone using it just as a thing to suck-face to.
